Of course, nothing is likely to come of this, but I'd like to see one of Trump's supporters here at AF defend this shit, even if it is just red meat for the rubes. How can anyone in good conscience continue to support a man who would so cavalierly wipe his ass with the First Amendment?

I have always strongly supported the idea of flag burning as a protected form of political speech/protest. But I've never seriously thought of doing so myself. But if Trump and his GOP congressional stooges try to pass such legislation (doomed to challenge and defeat in the courts though it would be), I will burn a fucking flag in protest. I'll burn a dozen of them. Fuck Trump and those of his supporters who would try -- or even threaten -- to curtail our constitutional liberties.

Let's face it, when most conservatives talk about protecting the constitution, they're really just using that as an excuse to complain about liberal policies they disagree with. Just look at how up in arms they got when Bush had his way with the fourth amendment.

They're more interested in who is doing something as opposed to what is being done. We've had eight years of whining about the over-spending and national debt, but notice how they're all silent about the fact that Trump's tax plan will cause a trillion dollar deficit per year.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

So...conservatards are full of shit.  We know that.

The only part of the constitution they care about is the second amendment.

Quote:I wouldn't be so sure about being too old to see the end. Trump takes the oath of office in January along with the Republican House and Senate.

There are so many degrees of crazy in republicuntism that they will splinter along obvious fault lines.  They'll no longer have Obama to keep them focused.

Again, it doesn't matter what either party does.  The country will continue to decline and the partisan ranting will simply preclude the possibility of anything getting done.

The Security State® will see to taking care of the First Amendment ... Who is President at that time won't matter much.
