Sex or affection?

If you could only choose to keep one, which would it be? Sexual acts, or affection such as hugs?
Personally, I'll take the affection. I'd miss it more, and I always want it.

Never did the deed with Brian.
All I have is a couple of hugs to remember him by if that is the criteria for the topic. And the hugs were enough . . .

I don't have sex very often. I'll go with affection. It's not easy to go without that for long.

We're in agreement so far, but I can't imagine going into a relationship which essentially centers sexual loyalty if the sex acts weren't sufficient. It can certainly drift in importance later of course.

Dewey was the one I thought I was in love with while we were dating, and he told me I wasn't but someday I might be if I came to really understand him.
So, turns out he was right, years pass with him not being around or in contact in any way, and then when I had walked some miles in his shoes, so to speak, it came true.
And years pass again, and bizarrely, I talk about him to a hetero friend of mine and he suggests a book to read, and I'll be damned if that didn't further illuminate Dewey to me, even to the extent I could feel I know him better than he knows himself, and it strengthened the bond. And the book lead to a couple movies, (LOL) Dances With Wolves, and Little Big Man, and I go further from just reading about men like him, to seeing 'permutations' on him.
Why wasn't Dunbar killed by the Sioux? They recognized him as akin to Younger Bear in LBM, as I have recognized Dewey as akin to them both.
And curiously, the very little I've gleaned from the internet about Dewey in the last few years dovetails with all I've figured out. I don't have a current picture of him, but I do of his spouse. Amazing who he looks like, simply amazing . . . and a 'classic' twist on the 'contrary' themes in DWW and LBM . . . .

I want to say sex, I really do, In this season of my life where I am having a mediocre amount of casual sex, and am feeling about equal parts happiness and guilty emptiness about it--- I feel like sex without affection doesn't do it at all for me.
So, I'd go with affection. My penis is screaming otherwise, but I'd begrudgingly go without sex forever.

I generally refer to it as 'chemistry' but sometimes you can tell the actors are doing more than the script ever called for.
One guy stroking another guys hair, a scene with a jolting edit point that starts with one man moving in to kiss and the end point clearly after a deleted kiss, sometimes the music in the sound track scores an emotional note, . . . .
