Trump and Conservatism As A Threat: What Should Be Done?

Which is precisely the kind of thinking that got us into this mess in the first place. Neither party has to put up anyone of worth when they know that people are more than willing to vote out of fear of the other guy. That's why we never see any real change. Why would the Democrats ever have to nominate anyone worthwhile when they know they can rig the primary and liberals will vote for whomever as long as they drum up enough fear for the Republican? In fact, given that Hillary overwhelmingly won the popular vote, I wouldn't be surprised if the only lesson the Dems take away from this is to be more strategic in their campaigning.

But you can never separate the two. The candidate dictates the policies. Because we all know from history that much of what is said during the campaign is lip-service and pandering. It's not about what they say they'll do during the campaign. It's about what you can reasonably trust them to do when they're in office. The fact is Hillary made herself very hard to trust.

Dems might look into not being complicit with the Trumpers and their goals? Just throwing that out.

No one made Hillary STUPIDLY put in her own private fucking email server.

No one made Brazile give the Hillary campaign the fucking debate questions.

No one made Mook and Podesta run a fucking lame campaign.

No one made Weiner be an attention seeking preevert.

No one made Bill Clinton castigate fucking Obamacare right before election day.

No one made Hillary repeatedly LIE about the fucking email server and all the fucking shit that was on it.

No one made Hillary delete 30,000 fucking emails.

No one made Hillary tell all the coal miners to go fuck themselves.

No one made fucking Debbie Wasserman Shultz manage the fucking DNC unfairly against Sanders

No one made President Obama goad and ridicule Trump at the fucking press club dinner to run for fucking president in the fucking first place.

No one made Hillary IGNORE her own fucking high polling negatives for 2 fucking decades

No one made Hillary insult everyone's intelligence with her stupid ass and fucking lame, whaddya mean, wipe off the fucking server with fucking Pledge and a fucking dust rag fucking bullshit

Actually I've been scanning the headlines and I'm pretty sure Russia did that stuff...

Blow it up. Blow it all up. Send some microbes into space on a trajectory to return to earth after it cools down a little. It's for the best.

But Russia/Assuange didn't release anything on the RNC, or Trump. Like his taxes, or pervert emails he or others in his campaign wrote, etc. And the point is to expose the underbelly of one side and not the other is manipulation. Unless you are utterly naive and think the RNC and Trump don't have just as bad or even worse shit they are hiding.

It excuses none of what was exposed, only points out the hypocrisy.

I was at a company party last night. Half the people there freely predicted the apocalypse and impending fascism. The rest of us kept our mouths shut. It was an election. One party won, the other party lost. That's it.

Will there be policy changes? Of course. Some will be good, some bad. Then we'll have another election. It's not the end of the world.

How about going with Hillary's first reaction when it became clear she lost:

physically attacking Podesta and Mook

(that's why she didn't concede till morning, it took that long for the eruption to subside)

I think it would be good to remember that we elected a president, not a king. I'm not saying this to be insensitive to those who are still very upset, just trying to offer some perspective.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

All the policy decisions will be bad. Trump has positioned the worst people to do every single job.

He's picked a fascist a climate change denier and a creationist among his top picks. At this moment in time I expect that sorry bunch to screw at least the USA but possibly the rest of the planet in a way that I fear will be irreversible.

This is a pivot point in history and it went the wrong way.

People talk about the electoral college (with good reason, mind you) but I think what we will feel the effect of more severely is the use of executive orders. Maybe that is what needs to be reined in, but I think we're on a downward spiral where each new administration (and its party adherents) will demand that it be unchanged. Will Republicans who groused about Obama using EOs for eight years now decide that turnabout is fair play? Will Democrats who defended his use of them for eight years suddenly discover the potential for abuse? STAY TUNED!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
