What Does/Does Not Offend You?

What gets up your nose? What should get up your nose, but doesn't? Are there things that offend you that other people find trivial? Do you routinely shrug off things that other people think should outrage you? You don't need to explain or justify your choices (unless you want to).

These things offend me:

-Public rudeness, bad manners.
-Animal neglect.
-Hunting.
-Attempts to suppress freedom of expression.
-Provincialism.

People are often surprised that the following things don't offend me:


-The phrases 'God Bless' and 'Happy Christmas'.
-Irish punk music.
-Liturgical music.
-Veganism.
-Video/computer gaming.

I think my answer would be too complex for me to pin down easily. It also likely depends on my state of mind at the moment. I'm not sure if there's specific things that offend me, either. It mostly depends on the how and why behind those things. Otherwise I'm perfectly capable of shrugging it off and laughing.

Things that do offend me include:

Speaking down to me.

Patting my head.

Pet names (especially in a place of business where sir or ma'am are usually used)

Speaking about me, but not to me

People who have never seen me before and automatically think I'm going to be a "good listener" for all their woes in life. 

People trying to relate.

- Any kind of fascism
- People who are completely closed to having grown-up mature conversations with people they don't agree with
- (more of a minor nitpick) these special snowflake "non-Binary" type SJWs, who act like they just invented androgyny yesterday. Hello? Who the fuck is Grace Jones and Tilda Swinton? You're not a new "fad", nor are you special.
- Cruelty or any kind of unecessary killing of animals
- Climate change denial
- People who don't wash
- Sandals, extra points if you wear flip flops with them.
- Men dying their hair blonde (naturally blonde is fine), or any other stupid colour

Does not offend me;

- In most contexts, the word "faggot"
- People taking forever to reply to texts. Take as long as you need, 95% the time I fon't feel like responding either
- Pretty much anything fictional, with few exceptions
- Tbh, most things short of outright violence

Stuff that I actually find offensive in more than just an annoying way though?

When people make fun of mentally handicap people.  I do use the word retarded to mean stupid though but I've always hated it when people do the down syndrome impression which is pretty common in schools or at least it was when I was there.  
I think I must have got this from my mum because she hates it and literally everyone I can think of that I knew would do impressions of down syndrome people and I hate that shit.

Trivialization of racism against white people.

Jokes about terminal illness, cancer things like that.  I'm not going to say people should stop doing those jokes for my sake I just think it's too serious for me to find funny.  I was pretty disturbed by a few family guy jokes involving cancer.  I was just thinking about that before coincidentally. 

I'm offended by insults against my family.

Definitely cruelty against animals too, including human beings as being part of the animal family. I fucking love when I meet someone else who loves animals for example cats dogs and so on, but someone who's cruel to animals it speaks a lot about them.

There's loads of things that could potentially offend me, I mean if someone was to knock on my door and say bloody hell you're an ugly lookin twat and I heard you play guitar it was fuckin awful.  I'd be offended then but I just don't come across this type of thing often.

Things that you might be surprised don't offend me.  
Racial slurs against white people don't offend me, my ex who was Bengali called me honky, I called her chocolate cheeks, it means nothing to me.  Just so long as theirs an acknowledgement that they are racial slurs there's no problem.  I am white, I'm aware of it, it's cool.  

Criticism or insults don't bother me too much if I've asked for an opinion.  It only bothers me if someone goes out of their way to insult me.  

I'm part Polish and I'm not offended when people say they don't want to live around Polish people.  It's kind of stupid because often they will say it to me not knowing I am part Polish, I get that they mean they'd rather have shops of their own culture around and people who speak the English language rather than Polish.  Unless they just genuinely hate Polish people on a genetic level or something like that then that's their own weird problem.

I'm used to a very northern working class environment where people call each other cunt, dick, prick all the time.  If you come in wearing anything new it gets mocked.  You wear a scarf you're the harry potter scarf wanker, dr who, mr snowman.  You wear a new expensive hat then you're the posh hat tosser.  You wear denim shorts and you're an 80s gay popstar.  General insults like that I love rather than get offended by.

I was walking by a house in my neighbourhood the other day and I noticed that there were no trees, plants or gardens.
Just grass. The surrounding fence had a built up garden bed along the sides and it had been cemented over.
As an avid gardener I was deeply offended and I can't help but think that the occupants are lazy, uncreative, boring arseholes that should go and live in the industrial area of town.
