A 10x50 pair of binoculars should bag Neptune.  I own a 15x70 pair, but they are hard to hold steady by hand; well worth the investment, though.

Interesting you should bring this up. I live near the NC/SC border on the east coast, and have noticed a bright light too close to be a star so I know it is a planet, but i't would be nice to know which one at this point.

Probably Mars. Out of the two it's naked-eye visible. It should have a faint pinkish tint.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You don't get more time, you just die one second earlier by calendar time. Tongue

A pair of image stabilized 15X50 binoculars are well worth it. They are price, and the objectives are not as large as you can get with normal binoculars, but the stabilized image when you want it is priceless.

I set a timer on the phone, hope it's clear tonight

These butties are my favorite (if my wife lets me buy them someday!):

As they get down to around 12 magnitude, you can observe 5,304,685 / 2 (or, about 2.6 million) stars with them!

I once made love to a girl for an hour and forty five seconds.  Of course, that was the night the clocks moved ahead...
