OFC cops are human beings, but when they put on the badge of the state we rightfully hold them to a higher standard than some random schmuck.  If that's too much to ask, then either they need to be removed from duty, or we need to change the situation we put them in.  Perhaps they should be heavily armored, not heavily armed?  

Racism isn't assumed to be a problem, it's repeatedly demonstrated to be a problem.  200 deaths seems to leave a few deaths out, and countless abuses that don't end in death.  

As to cops not preventing crime....think this through.  How do cops prevent crimes?  They show up after the fact.  People call them to report a crime in progress, or a crime that's already been committed.  They're not a pre-crime unit.  The number of crimes in an area is more properly attributed to socio-economic factors and emotional decisions, not the presence or number of police.  

A dispassionate examination of our police forces repeatedly show institutional racism which leads to reformation of departments, some actual...some window dressing.  This you seem to think can be whitewashed by complaing for them, about how hard their job is.  It's a volunteer job.  They can quit if it's too hard to be a cop, and, imo, they should.  Is hating cops what you think BLM is about, in any case?  Who told you that?  

I want to point out here that were basically flirting back and for with -why- theres no reason to think that millenials will drift rightward.  You;re defending institutions, millennials are not institutionalists (and can you blame us, with the institutions availabe for our consideration), as a demographic we're individualists, finding that we side with the individuals wronged over the institution that wrongs them shouldn't be surprising...it also explains why we don't vote, lol.

I'm sorry you see the cops as a revenge force on crime but that is not the reason for their social necessity.

The reality is that those people who are in a position to try and improve the lives we're discussing don't have the luxury of hate. Hate the cops all you want, hate the institutions all you want but the reality is that there is no future without black people in it and there is no future without police in it. So we need to come up with something better than just thinking that the police are all a bunch of racist assholes, call them out on it and... problem solved. There's a million cops and the vast majority are just like you and me. 

Let's also not forget that we are on the same side. Black lives do matter. The fact that I disagree that the entirety of the problem is racism and racist cops is based on the numbers. Contrary to the emotions generated by videos, the number of blacks, whites, Asians, Latinos etc... being killed by the police is in proportion to the crime rates of those groups. Again, I'm not claiming there is no racism and that we can safely ignore racism. I'm saying that we ignore everything else at our own peril. Chicago is the perfect example of this. If you really care about black lives why ignore the carnage that IS occurring just because it's not the cops doing the shooting. Why ignore that policing activities dramatically lowers the number of dead black people?

You say you're about individualism. Great, then how about viewing the cops as a bunch of individuals rather than a homogeneous group of lazy, racists. You don't fight racism by lumping an entire group of a million people into one tidy pile.

I said that millennials, as a demographic, are all about individualism.  Jesus christ man, lol?  I;m a bit of an outlier in my demographic, I;ve been the jackbooted thug, nevertheless my strongest sympathies lie in the same place as the majority of my demographic. That made my job super difficult, btw ...but you wouldn't have heard me whining about it, or abandoning my duty on account of it.

All institutions are made of individuals.  The problems of those individuals become the problems of the institutions, but we trust our institutions to winnow those problems out and have a supressive effect on whatever remainder slips through.  When they fail to do so, or even worse, promote those problems as a matter of institutional operation..ala the chiraq pd violating civil rights as a matter of course, those who represent those institutions are accountable for the actions of the institutions they represent. When they then attempt to conceal those problems, when they complaign about basic principles of accountability and oversight - because hur dur, real tough job-, it goes a step beyond simple failure and into the territory of being unfit to represent those institutions...which is why we probe and reform police departments.

Corps don't prevent crime, in urban or opiate addicted WV. Corps create cheap and desperate labor and that poverty leads to more social ills like addiction and street violence. I live in the sticks and I see stories here of BOTH whites and blacks getting arrested for drugs and for violence. Blacks are not the problem, nobody wants dead cops. But there is bigotry, and if not bigotry, fear and mistrust, to deny that is to ignore a very real problem. There is a very real mistrust between blacks and law enforcement. Not all of that is bigotry, but that is what bigots do hide behind and that leads to fear even if the individual police officer isn't a bigot. 

But only minorities like migrants and blacks get hurt worse on average by lack of economic stability and are more likely to be punished worse for the same crime than if a white person committed it.

Even MLK said that, caring for the welfare for minorities helps. Ignoring minorities or over simplifying it to "what's your excuse,"  does not help. Urban blacks want the same as poor rural whites, stability. 

Chicago is not the fault of liberals or blacks, Chicago is the fault of our entire nation and a GOP that has no clue how lack of livable wages and investment in both urban and rust belt and poor rural hurt everyone.

About BLM:

There are random checking on our roads by cops to fine motorcyclists without helmet, overspeeding etc. Boys being boys have a bad habit of speeding from them instead of stopping so cops would chase them. A lot of kids would not ever stop and end up getting in a serious accident because they panic having cops chase them. So our government saw that families were losing their kids to this kind of tragedy way too much and banned cops from chasing down these kids but instead instructed cops to note down their number plate and send the ticket to their house.

Look, my point is, blacks obviously being more dope and awesome are generally more aggressive than your average Bob with a plumbers Crack. So imo cops should be given special training in dealing with those sorts of people that panic, freak out and wreck havoc for no other reason but for seeing a cop walking up to them. Obviously running them down and restraining them by assaulting them is not going to help.

People are different. Governments should realize this and instruct law enforcement officers to behave appropriately depending on the person. So far though nobody seems to be interested in actually solving the problem but yelling about it and causing all kinds of public nuisance. I think better training is the answer though although I'm 100% sure people can come up with even better solutions.
