Absolutely wrong on that count. A second referendum will most definitely happen. The only question is when.

I think the SNP are waiting for the right time to maximise their chance of success. Why do it now before the pain of Brexit has happened? On the other hand they don't want to wait until the UK has left the EU. They'll probably do it after Article 50 has been invoked and when we're about to leave. The longer they wait, the more time they have for Theresa May to show how she's going to shaft Scotland.

Just grow up. You are so immature.

I am English and a paying member of the SNP. There are lots of English supporters of independence. Hardly fitting of Bella's immature stereotyping.

Both myself and my Scottish husband hate Braveheart, I've only seen it once.

RE: Fucking SNP
Don't people going to University in Scotland get to go for free essentially? Wouldn't that mean the SNP wants Scots to be trained? They aren't encouraging people to go to a university.

Maybe it's businesses who are lobbying the SNP to fight to have more immigrants because there's a skills shortage in certain areas, or they are just cheapskates - one of the two. Also, I think the anger should be directed at thr business that want to undercut Scottish born workers but employing cheap labour rather then the immigrants themselves. My thinking is: If you are angry at people less fortunate than you are it's normally somebody who is more fortunate manipulating you.

Scottish councils fear 'significant' budget cuts
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-sc...s-38796517

Quote:Scottish councils have warned that the government's budget plans could lead to "significant" cuts to local services.

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla) said the proposed funding package would "result in extremely difficult local decisions".

A Scottish government spokesman insisted councils had been treated "very fairly" in budget settlements.

The government needs one opposition party to at least abstain to get the budget past its first vote on Thursday.

A briefing paper sent around MSPs by Cosla, which includes many of Scotland's councils, said "misrepresentations" about the proposed deal were confusing communities and damaging the role of local government.

Politicians are politicians, who would have thought they were self serving hypocrites?
Tell the plebs what they want to hear then screw them over, never heard that one before.

Let's have a bit of balance here Bella otherwise it just becomes Bella's own personal propaganda thread.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-sc...s-35119691

Quote:Scotland's Finance Secretary John Swinney has defended his budget decision to cut local government revenues by 3.5% for 2016/17.

He told BBC Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland programme that in England councils had faced reductions of about 27%.

Quote:Mr Swinney's budget, delivered on Wednesday, pledged no change to income tax and a continued council tax freeze.

Quote:He said: "If you compare the situation of Scottish local government with English local government - English local government over the last few years has gone down by 27% in its funding and Scottish local government has essentially had flat cash from the Scottish government for a number of years.

"So it starts from a much higher baseline figure for the provision of local authority service."

Mr Swinney argued that the revenue reduction had to be seen in the context of funding increases elsewhere.

He explained: "Now the reduction of 3.5% is in resource terms, but that is not the only thing you have to look at.

"You have to look at the fact I announced one of the largest reforms in the delivery of health and social care there has been since the foundation of the National Health Service in 1948 with an injection from the health resources of £250m into the delivery of health and social care services at local level."

Looks like they don't even care about Scotland, instead of employing and training Scots they want to import even more foreign labour.

It has long been known that immigration actually benefits the host country financially. So if they don't allow in immigrants then they would be accused by people like you of damaging the economy.

Secondly, who says that Scots are not being trained up?

University tuition is free for Scots, or at the very least damn cheap compared to the rest of the country.

http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co...-scotland/

Quote:The standard tuition fee for an undergraduate degree course in Scotland in 2016 is £1,820. The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) will pay these fees if you meet eligibility conditions; for example, if you are a Scottish resident and/or a qualifying non-UK EC student.

So it looks like you're the one talking pish as usual Bella.

Quote:Smug Scottish nationalists began whistling and singing “Ode to Joy” by Beethoven – the anthem of the Brussels bloc – during the vote to trigger the EU exit starting gun in the House of Commons.

North Ayrshire and Arran MP Patricia Gibson led the Remoaner choir as other Members cast their votes on the Government’s Bill to trigger Article 50.

But Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle launched a booming shout of “order” across the chamber.

Quote:Former first minister Alex Salmond has indicated a decision on whether to hold a new independence referendum could come within weeks.

He said the UK government's response to Scottish plans to protect trade with Europe would be crucial.

Mr Salmond, the SNP's international affairs spokesman at Westminster, said a rejection of the plans would probably result in an autumn 2018 referendum.

The UK government has said it will seek a deal for "the UK as a whole".

Speaking on the BBC's Sunday Politics Scotland programme, Mr Salmond said: "The UK government has still to respond to Nicola Sturgeon's compromise proposal.

"That's going to come over the next few weeks and once that's done - if they reject it as many people predict - then we'll know that they're not interested in the voice of Scotland.

"As Nicola Sturgeon has said it is (then) very likely there will be another independence referendum."
