Narcissistic Personality Disorder
#21
RE: Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Are you a psychologist or psychiatrist? Well even if you were, you wouldn't be qualified to diagnose such without personally interviewing the person. It's called the Goldwater rule. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldwater_rule

Not saying you are wrong, just that you can't really know such a thing based on what you see of someone on TV.

This guy (Donald Trump) had every major celebrity in hollywood going against him, people on television full on laughing at the idea of this man being president.
President Obama mocked Trump at a dinner party, I think some of the jokes were even about Donald never being president. then a couple of years later Donald took his job.

I don't know anyone who wouldn't get at least a little ego boost from that.  Someone who can say "I had the president mocking me, George Clooney, all the major pop stars and actors in hollywood making fun of me, took me a couple of years to take the president's job."

What other standard things make a guys ego blow up?  Having a good looking girlfriend, he's got that.  Money, he's got that.  Fancy cars, good job.  I don't know much about his kids but I think he's succeeded in having fairly competant kids, they're a good looking bunch too.

Considering all the factors of his life I'd say he's actually pretty humble.  Some guys go walking around as if they're god if they get a little promotion in work or success with a girl, this guy's got, or at least had model girlfriends and took the president's job.

What's kind of funny is I just saw a clip on TV of Trump bragging about how humble he is. That's usually a joke but the joke appears to be lost on Trump... perhaps because of a personality disorder?

In response to you post, I would have to point out three things.

1) Trump has been behaving this way forever. He was pretending to be his own publicist decades ago and was lavishly bragging about himself in the third person. Pretty weird behavior having nothing to do with silencing his current critics. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/...c5ac7de6cb

2) He lied about being a self made man on a million dollar loan. The fact is he took over his fathers company at a young age and received many millions at that point as well as inheriting tens of millions from his father. No one knows exactly how much he received. Trump could clarify all his claims by releasing his tax returns but refuses to do so because the truth would be harmful to his ego. This is what you would expect from someone with NPD.

3) There are many billionaires much wealthier than Trump, who really are self made... and they don't behave in a super narcissistic fashion like Trump. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet come to mind. So being born into a wealthy family is a very bad excuse for Trumps constant over the top bragging about himself and inability to take any kind of criticism.
If god was real he wouldn't need middle men to explain his wants or do his bidding.

Whether or not he has this particular personality disorder is irrelevant to me. His actions are starting to look dangerous, which is important to me. After being abused by people with NPD before, I don't wait for a diagnosis if I can stop the negative actions first. Unfortunately, I can't stop a president.

Gates didn't come from nothing. But yes, much more successful than Trump under his own steam. And, as opposed to Trump (might not be as altruistic as it seems) a really charitable man.

I don't know what the deal is with Trump, but for some reason he falls into the category of men I always despised. From the first moment I had the displeasure of learning about him. Long before his despicable campaign. More than two decades before that point in time, I would say. He seems to be the caricature of the American capitalist. Drawn to make the whole concept look bad.

I never felt that way over the other guys. Gates, Jobs, Buffet or Soros even. With Trump my neck hairs always stood on end.

Yes, I get that which is why I put the topic out there and asked for other opinions.

Having said that, I don't think that discussing absurd behavior should be off limits given how destructive the consequences could be. People started noticing early signs of Alzheimer's in Reagan and that eventually is what killed him. In his case it was at the end of his term so no damage was done.

Also, if the signs are very obvious it's not that difficult to see. I saw a youtube video of a kid falling of a rail while skateboarding. His leg ended up in a 90degree angle in the middle of his shin. Don't need to be a doctor to see it was a broken leg.

Basically, they're just expressing opinions based on their hatred of Trump.
