If you shop carefully, a good Epi can be had. I like their Sheraton semi-hollows, and every so often they get a Les Paul or SG right -- like the one I owned.

For acoustics, there's a Taylor 12-string in my future, to join my Yamaha 6er and two electrics.

Taylors can get pretty expensive. Nice guitars, though. How do the Epiphone Les Pauls rate, as far as sound and construction, with their Gibson cousins? I always liked the Gibson Les Paul, but then again, they can be quite expensive. A friend of mine's dad had a '58 model Gibson Les Paul in the oak finish. It had a great sound. I really liked it.

Epi 'Pauls can be good values. The pickups aren't as good as Gibson's, and often see replacement. They've got a long tenon in the set neck, which is better, but generally the wood is of lower quality. Given the QC issues Gibson's been having, I don't know you'd be giving up much in construction, just on materials quality. Tone-wise, they do the Les Paul thing very well, and I'm saying that as a player whose #1 for fifteen years was a 73 LP.

This is not accounting for their Japanese-built Elitist models, which are fantastic guitars and still a solid grand below a Gibby price-wise.

According to the estimates from the above article roughly 7.8 Million metric tons of CO2 emissions will be created as a consequence of building the wall.
It's not a massive amount in the grand scheme of things, but it's still interesting to think about. Often times when we go through with massive projects like this, the cost-benefit analysis doesn't consider the indirect ecological impact. Often times without regulations, direct ecological impact isn't considered either.

Not the case with border walls....they always come packaged with specific exemptions to a bevy of things, including environmental regulations, and the endangered species act.  The direct cost is known, considered, and overruled. As are property rights, etc.

Simply put, the drawbacks, such as... :

• Being the biggest and most expensive architectural boondoggle in American history, a project of such magnitude that has only been pulled off once in recorded history; and it will cost even more than $20 million when you take into account staffing and maintaining it so the work of enforcing it can actually happen.
  
• Having to span 2000 miles, which includes everything from mountains and rivers to villages and people's homes and even splitting a college campus in two. You really don't think this is going to cause serious trouble, especially given that Mexico clearly doesn't want to play ball.
  
• A surprisingly high number of illegal immigrants coming in with methods that would not be affected, from the cartels' tunnels to simple visa fraud and airplanes. 
  
• Its being unpopular, particularly along the border, with 72% of Americans at the border (and more on the Mexican side) being against it.
  

... Outweigh any benefits, especially given that this is an extremely shitty time, since that actual border crossings are actually a lot lower than they have been; the fact that the only border between two nations that aren't officially killing each other that's more militarised than US-Mexico border today is the border between North and South Korea.

Also, if you opposed Obamacare mainly because you were afraid we'd still be paying for its implementation generations from now, you have no business being for this shit, since this would be worse in every way, more money for even less return.

Damn this is the resistance we are dealing with lol. Mexico is building a wall right now on it's southern border to prevent people from traveling through Mexico to the US. We already have 7000 miles of fence, and this is just an extension.
