Quote:Donald Trump has 'fascinating parallels' with Caligula, says historian

Quote:He has not yet made a horse his running mate, but Donald Trump can be compared to one of the most notorious of all Roman emperors, Caligula, according to best-selling historian Tom Holland.
Holland told the Hay festival there were fascinating parallels between the actions and success of Trump and what was going on in Rome 2,000 years ago.
Caligula has gone down in history as one of the maddest and baddest of all Roman emperors, a name synonymous with the worst excesses of absolute power.

Let's not forget the Caligula built two gigantic and enormously expenses ships on Lake Nemi which were the height of first century luxury and, like a lot of what the WLB does, seem to serve no purpose except his own aggrandizement.

Ah, now Min, you're being harsh. What did Caligula do to deserve such opprobrium?

And the Nazis burnt them as they retreated from Italy, just a nasty peace of historical vandalism.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

Well, trump only had 10 days, and he is already looking bad next to Caligula.

1. Caligula actually had public service experience as the quaestor before assuming the throne.

2.  Caligula actually ruled with moderation and even generosity during his first 6 month as emperor, and didn't build walls or ban refugees in his first week.

3.  Caligula actually published both his own personal and the public treasures accounts upon assuming his office, and didn't withhold his tax records.

I'm hoping he turns the whitehouse into a brothel.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
