We saw this on the news this morning and my wife was asking why she would lie like that when the whole administration is under such scrutiny. I was like, "Since when has just making shit up hurt them at all?"

They've learned it's a valid strategy, and their idiot supporters will just soak it up unquestioningly. If they were concerned with facts, they wouldn't be Trump supporters in the first place.

It's not like we're a nation of critical thinkers. I know a lot of people here are sick of this notion, but we Americans really are pretty fucking stupid as a whole.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
