What a truly fascinating thing-- and I think some of the NDEs could really shed light on what it means to be alive, to be conscious, and so on. But since there are so many nuts around the issue, we kind of throw the baby out with the bath water.

While I'm not entirely convinced that these things are clearly real, there does seem to be at least something worth investigating. It might even turn out to be true, in some respect. But all the effort going in to convince people by sheer force isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
