The Ambassador has a lot of say and influence in trade and the border with the U.S .And there one of the few people other then the Prime minister able to see the governor general on a whim . Not to mention both access to both houses of the government and the opposition .

Thou it's true most ambassadors don't use these powers they none the less have them.
