Regarding precipitating another major war in the ME, Keep in mind nearly all the acute crisis in the ME during the last 15 years is directly traceable to the idiotic decision to invade Iraq.

We may have won the battle and killed saddam, but we nonetheless lost the war we started big time. What is more, we will be in denial over losing so badly and will no doubt continue to be in denial until we start another one there, lose it even worse in exactly the same way.

Regarding war with china. Trade with china is 5% of US GDP, or put it another way adds as much to the US economy every year as how much the US economy spends each year on the military. Yet Ultimately china's potential to challenge US global dominance is the main justification for why the US spends more on the military than china plus the rest of the world combined. Which party is going remove both the reason for the military pork, and put it bluntly, the subsidy for the pork?
