True, but they have to be thinking how this reflects on them in the mid terms and next election.

Sure, but there's plenty of time between now and then to spin a narrative.

Flynn was only chosen to extend the olive branch to liberals, as a former Obama advisor...and they stuck with him to avoid succumbing to a political witch-hunt coming from the same radical group.  Besides, they got rid of him, so everyone should shut their mouth and stop talking about russian ties, impropriety, and conflicts of interest, now.  There is no reason to investigate further.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

True enough, though I've been observing American politics for years. It seems to me that we're not even 1 month into Trump's term and he's already caused no end of controversy and scandal. If that keeps up for 2 years, it's going to have to be one hell of a narrative spun to avoid mid-term losses.

The problem is with mid-term turnouts. They're historically dismal.

It seems that way because the MSM hates Trump and criticizes everything about him. But consider:
- the public's faith in MSM is very low
- they're desensitizing us to it. Every day I open my Google News, and there's a dozen things Trump is doing wrong. I've quit clicking on them. Trump's going to get away with actual, serious wrongdoing because it will just blend in with all the inconsequential crap.

Knowingly appointing a National Security Advisor who made unethical, inappropriate, and probably illegal contact as a civilian with a foreign government and then lied about it is not inconsequential.

Sorry.

I do not find it comforting that U.S. intelligence agencies (i.e. spies) are leaking information about the civilian authorities to whom they are supposed to be accountable. I know the CIA has meddled in foreign governments but its very disturbing to know that it has turned its attention inward.

Come on. There is no way this is inconsequential, or that this may not be a serious wrongdoing reaching as high as the POTUS himself. You're just defending Trump no matter what, you're just as bad as people who look for any reason to attack him.

No, he's worse.

Having a potentially invalid reason to criticize the President is harmless.

Denying what the President does is not harmless because it is no longer words but often official policy.

It also is delusional and a key requirement for creating a totalitarian regime where basic facts become political opinion.

So let me get this straight

When Russia hacks an email server of a government official and leak information about them to try and manipulate and election.(it doesn't matter if America does it to other countries or not ) Then they receive praise for airing said officials dirty laundry  from none other then Trump himself .But when the intelligence community in the United States  do the same thing to Trump himself. There villains who need condemnation.

When it comes to Trump . Blame the subject not the messenger .
