By making Eve out of a part of Adam, she – and by extension– all women are inherently subservient to men. Had God created Eve from dust the way he did Adam, women might be able to make the case that they were equal to men and deserved equal ...whaddya call 'em...rights.

Wrong, they were created equal partners, Eve broke that partnership by not working out a decision with Adam, in other words she struck out on her own instead of communicating with her help mate. God created them for each other, as one, thus Eve's creation from Adam's rib. Their relationship was to be as the relationship God wanted to have with them, trusting each other. What Eve did was worse than just the disobedience of eating the fruit, she betrayed the trust between God, Adam and herself. Thus the punishments each received. Because of the way God created Adam and Eve He still expects trust, obedience, faithfulness between a husband and wife, it's still to be one in and with each other.
Also to address the OP God created in ways that no one else could possibly claim. Often I hear why can't God heal amputees, He showed He could by making a living being from a rib bone.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I'm not questioning why God is stupid. I know he isn't because his character was written by man.

I'm just at a loss to explain the thinking by the authors/translators behind something very basic.
Why would an all powerful God who just created the whole universe need to pinch a rib from Adam to make Eve?

I know it's just a story, but what the hell is the moral from it?  ---That God is all powerful except for making spare ribs?  Dunno
I'd like a theist to enlighten me please.

A simple Atheist question if I may...

Where in the bible does it say God NEEDED to pinch a rib from Adam??? Oh, that right it doesn't. It simply says he did. Ok, so why then ask that question.. oh that's right intellectually dishonest.

Well then maybe we can get an answer from Gen 2 as to why God would do this even if he did not need to..
23: then adam said:
“Finally! One like me,
    with bones from my bones
and a body from my body.
She was taken out of a man,
so I will call her ‘woman.’”

Seems to me there was an immediate attachment, because Adam recognized the attachment God built in her from him.

I heard it wasn't a rib but Adams penis bone.

Man, all this talk about obscure Bible stuff got me thinking and I had a thought about the dumbest thing ever.  White supremacist Bible literalist.  I'm sure they must exist.  Think about that for a moment.  Then ponder the Tower of Babel.  There was only one race on the planet before man tried to build a tower to God, and it sure as fuck wasn't white.  Being made white was a PUNISHMENT handed down from God, a mark of our arrogance and ignorance, a reminder of how small and unimportant we are.  If you believe the story, that is.
Have you ever noticed all the drug commercials on TV lately?  Why is it the side effects never include penile enlargement or super powers?
Side effects may include super powers or enlarged penis which may become permanent with continued use.  Stop taking Killatol immediately and consult your doctor if you experience penis enlargement of more than 3 inches, laser vision, superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to explode heads with your mind or time travel.  Killatoll is not for everyone, especially those who already have convertibles or vehicles of ridiculous size to supplement penis size.

If 'god' was so smart he would have given all men the same sized dick and it would have saved a lot of trouble in this world.

Then what would happen to my title 'Man With The Largest Penis In Human History' ? ?

A noun and a verb walk into a bar; things get tense.

The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
