If you're Thor, may I thuggetht uthing thome athtroglide or thimilar? Eatheth fricthion.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Is atheism escapism? No, escapism is indulging in fantasy to distract someone from reality.
Sounds more like theism to me.

Why would people who were so sure God did not exist spend so much time thinking and talking about God.

If there is no God, why do we have a conscience, something none of the other animals have?

If the world is so meaningless and empty, why does man search for meaning?

Its so clear God exists and atheists just refuse to acknowledge and worship Him.

I know athesits. They are deadened souls with no morals. They keep telling me you don't need to be a Christian to be moral, but unlike the committed Christians I know, the atheists/agnostics are barely interested in questions of what is moral or not, and act as if morals do not matter

And this from the highly moral white guy who thinks the Indians ought to be grateful to the whitemen for being dispossessed and killed because what has been stolen from them has been put to better use in the eyes of the whitemen.

It was a cruel bastard indeed who decided that there should be an 's' in the word 'lisp'.

I often wonder why the phrase 'I often wonder' is so often followed by utter dipshittery.

You don't have to be sure God doesn't exist to be an atheist. The vast majority of agnostics are also atheists. Why would you be sure something exists when you already admit that you can't know if it exists?

ThortheMighty Wrote:If there is no God, why do we have a conscience, something none of the other animals have?

Does God have a conscience? Is another God required to explain that? And there's every sign that other social mammals have feelings akin to our 'conscience'. They can act as though they feel shame and guilt. Why would a God give those attributes to animals if they're supposed to be especially for humans? A conscience or something like it would be something natural selection would favor in a social species,.

ThortheMighty Wrote:If the world is so meaningless and empty, why does man search for meaning?

First, establish that all atheists believe the world is 'so meaningless and empty' before attempting to refute them, how about that?

ThortheMighty Wrote:Its so clear God exists and atheists just refuse to acknowledge and worship Him.

You seem to have been dishonest about what you put for your religious views.

If you're as much of an asshole to them in person as you are to them on line, I bet that's not pleasant for anyone involved.

Yet are less than 1% of the US prison population.

Yet manage to stay out of jail way more than people who identify as Christian. What a mystery, how can you be being truthful while the only available objective evidence contradicts you? It's a stumper all right.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

You are definitely one of the most open-minded and kindest members here.

You know... I have a side of myself that is a similar way.

But as soon as I start being informal and swearing and joking around I tend to get bored and start telling the trolls and arseholes to fuck off, lol.

It's all playful and I hope no one would ever think I hated them. I've only ever met one other person as forgiving as me, I think.
