If i really cared for someone and didn't know what to get them, i sometimes write them a poem but if they insist they want nothing, i can understand and respect that. So they'll get nothing. Well it was mission successful, she said I'd given her the best presents and she loved them. After going thru saying the usual "why would you do that when I told you not to!"

It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason. 
You could get something that you want so when she doesn't use it you can take it yourself.
I never got around to marrying or having kids. Just not something I wanted, at least on an emotional level.
I'm one who gets stressed on my birthday/xmas; as I get older (41 now), it's harder to think of anything I want or need. I have enough clutter. For me, as uncharming as it is, a Target giftcard is always well recieved. I always seem to think up things I do need if I get one. Also, a movie card. Or an iTunes card. I, for one, love the movie experience, and listening to music on my PC.
