One of the very few pictures of my paternal grandmother. To the very right. Must be before '65, since she died at the end of that year. Probably taken on christmas eve, since we're standing in the door of our living room, all ready to celebrate. Actually one of my first memories, when she died because I didn't understand death back then, but when the family left for the funeral and dropped me at some friends house, I felt left out and alone. Gran was nearly deaf and one of the only memories I have of her was her very high voice, since she didn't really hear what she was saying.

The others are, maternal gran to the left, mom, holding me and maternal grandpa covered by mom.

How in the world did you two produce your boys?  Wait a minute, you only have daughters.  These boys are imposters .. and from the look of them, horses as well!

Evie is a good looking young man as well as young and earnest looking.  He would kill as a salesperson.

Here's a random picture of me several years ago. I appear to look like a cross between Herman Munster and a stoned monkey.

You never pull a punch in self appraisal.  This photo reminds me of the time I got stoned at my just younger brother's wedding.  Me and some cousins loaded up in the unfinished basement.  Then I went upstairs where I met my fast talking/ poor listening aunt.  I was beside myself with paranoia to begin with.  But as I stood there taking it all in .. it dawned on me that her eyes never once looked at me and she was basically using her words to hold the world at bay.  I imagine I would have looked to her much as you do here if she'd actually have been curious enough to notice.

That's where I grew up. When I was little and the sun was shining, I used to snuggle in the lap of this statue, since it's made of sandstone and got pretty warm.



That was my elementary school.

My wife and I went to Las Vegas this last weekend. She spoke on two panels in the Book Festival, and I tagged along because, Vegas. My parents also went, separately for their anniversary. We met up and spent a bunch of time on the old strip on Freemont.

Here, my dad and I are standing in front of the sign at the start of the strip. Freemont is quite a different experience than Las Vegas Blvd.
