RE: Member Photos
I've wanted a Sportster since I was seventeen. I had the opportunity to buy a really nice one for a good price, but I'm not comfortable riding here in San Diego. Splitting lanes is legal and necessary in heavy traffic, but it's extremely dangerous, and I don't want to end up like a 'possum under someone's tire.

Now, when it comes to bikes, if I could get my hands on one of these, traffic worries - for me - would be a thing of the past:

This time, we both took 1200 Sportsters, two different types. I'd never ridden one before, and thought it was actually a pretty fun little bike. Most guys who ride the "big twins" (larger Harleys) look down on them, but I think they deserve more respect than I'd been giving them.

Thanks! It's hard to feel badass, though, when you just ate your first Thanksgiving meal after a decade in prison, and you're so full that zipping up your biker jacket was a challenge! hehe

Literally, I don't think I've ever been that full (read: bloated!) in my life.

But I really appreciate the sentiment. Smile

In two minutes, I'll be getting on the road again; gotta take my riding partner to St. Louis to pick up his bike (which has been in the shop) and get an eye surgery done, which will mean he can't ride for a couple of days. Poor guy!
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Aww, thanks, Losty. I'm posting from the car, as he's driving.

Funny thing is that I brought my leather pants, too, but my partner had repacked them under the seat... so when we went to ride, I thought I'd forgotten them. Felt weird to ride without them.

We dropped off his bike for a quick warranty-keeping service, but it needed a part they didn't have, so they offered to let us test ride any of their used bikes we wished. Ergo, it was a fun afternoon anyway, despite feeling strange riding in jeans. Gator (business partner), on the other hand, can't be convinced to ride in sleeves, let alone leathers. Never understood that. I always joke that the way he rides is like going raw-dog with a prostitute... yeah it might feel better and you might get away with it 99 out of 100 times, but on that 100th time, you're going to REALLY regret not wearing full protection!

Biker-speak. You don't get the sexy leathers without the biker attitude and language. Wink

We're home, by the way.

Edit to Add: I'm a little amused by the objection to the "raw-dog" comment, as that's actually the cleaned-up version of what I was going to write. I have to be very conscious of what I write, since most of the time I'm filtering out nine years of max-security prison-speak and "biker culture" language. For offenses I give, I apologize, immediately and in the future.
