Believing you know there's a god and you know what it is does not make you a piece of shit.

I was being facetious. I'm sorry I didn't make that plainer.

However, to address your point, I don't think religion is a mental disorder. Nor is being wrong -- which is the larger set to which religion belongs, in my book. Now, if you want to go to clinical terms in your attacks on religious folk (like my sister), perhaps you should link to the clinical definition of religious disorder so that I know what it is you're actually talking about.

I might have overstated delusions as their own class of mental illness but it's still an unhealthy state of mind and that's what the result of indoctrination is.

And I didn't say believing in a god and that one knows its will makes a person a piece of shit (just a dupe until they start acting on the shitty side of their belief), I said pretending (as in being pretentious) they know. That means they know better that there isn't really one and are just using it to further an agenda. Like that fake-ass dickhead Ray Comfort. I'm on the fence about whether Ken Ham genuinely believes or is just pretending but he sure as hell isn't above using it to dupe those who believe likewise which is completely contrary to what he claims to believe in. Apparently jeebus was full of shit when he said the rich would have a hard time getting into heaven. But he's still a cunt for doing what he does.

Overstatement (and its cousin, hyperbole, which you've copped to as well earlier in this thread) is really sloppy when it comes to communication. You should perhaps say what you mean the first time and then hopefully avoid all the misunderstandings. When you go off half-cocked like this and have to dial it back, you not only offend people with your original statements, you lose credibility when, like now, you have to back away from them after having your extreme language pointed out for the bullshit that it is.

Communication is difficult enough without having to figure out if you really mean what you say or are just trying to make a splash with over-the-top language.

Well it's a good thing I didn't accuse you of any of that. Firstly, I don't think that people with mental disorders are pieces of shit. Secondly, I'm curious how you know what people really believe and what they pretend to believe. I mean, I get that sometimes it's easy to tell -- I'm looking at you, Ted Haggard -- but how do you know what someone else knows or believes outside obvious situations like that?

Now we're getting somewhere. But do you think those guys are representative of the theist mindset, or simply preying upon it?

I wasn't replying to you with the second paragraph of my post, but to Losty; I just hate how complicated the damn quoting system is on here so I didn't use them. Wish it was more streamlined. But yes, I agree I should be more clear. When I get really passionate about something it sounds clearer in my head than when it comes out through my fingertips.

Comfort has been proven wrong to his face numerous times so he's definitely full of shit and just doing his shtick for the money. Ham is harder to read but he's still and opportunistic cocksucker regardless. So they're both giant dicks whether or not they genuinely buy their own bullshit. I just hate that they're preying on people, especially kids.

Is there some kind of venn diagram that can demonstrate which combination of factors (religion, mental health, lack of religion, rational thinking) leads to disaster so we can prove on paper that he's full of it?

Jim Jones didn't do shit in the name of atheism . Because you can't do something in the name of atheism . Saying you have done something in the name of Atheism is as dumb as saying some did something in the name of non unicorn ism  . Neither suggests a course of thought or action . So Jim Jones killed people out of his paranoid delusions not atheism . He could scream i'm killing in the name of atheism and it would still be false . Because one can't kill in the name of atheism . He killed in the name of what he believed not what he didn't believe.

And we have already been over this huggie there are not atheist religions almost all religions have some conception of gods or deities and atheism is a rejection of such enitities . And no just because you use Judo - Christianity traditions to define what a god is does not mean i have too.

No Buddhist have gods

No Taoist have deities

No so do Jain's

So Pantheists -(defining the universe as a mind is still a god)

Animism can no more be a religion then accepting that gravity runs the universe .

And no people who celebration of life are not a religion  . By that logic loving music is a religion

And no Secular humanism , Skepticism and Naturalism are not religions either

It's so irksome when Ham tries to label those and atheism as religions. Even if he believes his own religious bullshit genuinely, he has to know he's fucking lying about that. That's why I can't stand the assholes who pull this false equivalence bullshit getting away with it all the damn time.
