Why do people dislike Celine Dion?

As for Celine I think I've only ever heard her Titanic song which was nice but I wouldn't just listen to it in my truck on the way to work lol.

I have this thing where for some strange reason I don't really like girl singers. I mean I like them well enough and there are a few on my ipod but I don't -really- like them. I prefer men singing and there are a few men that have voices that just give me the chills. Never has a female singer done that. Out of my top five favorite bands and my top five solo singers only 1 person is female.

She doesn't have the range that Celine has, though I am a fan of Shania.

Celine Dion has some incredible pipes for sure.  I enjoy listening to her sing.  She doesn’t write her own songs though, so I can’t seriously consider her an artist.

Now see I've never understood that logic myself. People don't often get mad at writers who don't illustrate their own novel covers, they don't have issues with people that can write songs but can't sing, some are amazing at instruments but can't sing, etc so why does someone that can sing also have to be talented at writing to be considered a serious artist? As far as I'm concerned being able to sing like she does is an amazing talent, I sure as hell shouldn't be allowed in public while singing.

Lol, I dunno. I mean, I agree she is an unbelievably talented singer.  But, she isn’t a song writer, or a composer.  I still like her.  A person who writes a novel is still fully an author even if he doesn’t illustrate his book cover.  The book cover doesn’t really have any meaningful relevance to the story written.  For me, personally, simply singing a song someone else wrote is like giving the artist who illustrated the novel cover credit for writing the story.  😋

What is it about her that particularly annoys you?

She's French Canadian. It's like the worst of both worlds.
