RE: Egypt leaves the Internet
I've been watching the news and listening to sanctimonious politicians and journalists everywhere rabbiting on about people power and democracy in Egypt.
They said the same when Cory Aquino ousted Marcos. The blatant excesses of the dictator and his Gorgon wife stopped, but the institutionalised corruption remained. I will take odds it will be the same in Egypt. . Democracy my arse.I'm also deeply suspicious of 'popular uprisings'. Like the revolutions which sometimes follow, they are fomented by pissed off/ ambitious/ opportunistic members of the middle classes, not the sheep of the lumpen proletariat. |
