What made you a nonbeliever in mermaids?

I can't really say that I'm the Mermaids atheist but rather an agnostic. I mean I can't say that they don't exist (so many nations around the world have these stories about human-fishes) but I don't know why I think that they don't exist. Can you tell me why you don't believe in Mermaids so maybe it becomes clear to me.

I’ve seen mermaids. They live in a zoo type place where they swim in glass tanks and men pay to look at them.
The place is even called “Mermaids”!

By that logic, are we all to believe in any other mythology?
eg: Cyclops, Minotaur, Sirens, God etc. I thought the world has moved on
