[Serious] Far-Right Extremism Is a Global Problem
RE: Far-Right Extremism Is a Global Problem
Quote:The Conservatives weren't especially nice to the CBC,

If by "not nice" you mean openly hostile to media that criticized them then yes.

Quote: but I voted for Harper.

My sympathy

Quote:I also voted him out.
Too little too late

Quote: I never understood the hate for the man.

Yeah, who couldn't dislike a wannabe autocrat who had contempt for being held accountable? who laissez-faire attitude on human rights and a contempt for science and a free press.

Quote:He was a smart pragmatist.
He was as morally compromised shishter

Quote: Only when he started to cave into the right-wing of his party toward the end did he seal his fate.
Nope from the moment, he took the job

Quote:When its time to kick the Liberals out, I only hope we get a Conservative leader half as reasonable and intelligent as Harper.

"reasonable " Hilarious

Quote:  The current guy isn't that.
I can agree with this

Quote:And journalists aren't supposed to be so obviously partisan while covering election results.
As long as it doesn't affect their reporting i don't really care

You seem to have strong partisan views. I do not. I don't listen to the "Dump Justin" drum beat on the internet, not that "Harper Hate" that used to occur.

The main reason I sometimes vote Conservative is so that I don't get taxed out of existence. One of the first tax proposals the Liberals did would've affected greatly. The backed off on that, as small business leaders told them it was a bad idea. Some Liberals have decided that their demographic is the lower-middle-class. If you are above a median income, or create a business, they feel you are making too much.

The other reason is so that the country doesn't go broke. However, while the Conservatives under Mulroney started a fiscal-responsibility shift, it was the Chretien Liberals who completed it. And right now, fiscal responsibility is off the table for both parties. So, who knows who will keep the country running without bankrupting it. Does anyone still remember the 70s and 80s?

I supported them both as Justin is just the same Neo-Liberal song and dance the Liberals have been pushing since the 80s

Not really a great reason

A lot wrong in this paragraph but I won't push it

Again there so much wrong in this paragraph (Mulroney and Chretien fiscally responsible that's a good one) (the oft-repeated myth about the 70s)

Michael Wilson and Paul Martin were the two people who actually cared about getting the deficit under control.  Perhaps no-one else did, but they did, and they succeeded.

Yet another myth Canada was never going to go bust and the boom we saw during the "austerity " years would have happened anyway. The only thing Martin did was launch a full-on assault on Canada's public services. It was cruel and unnecessary.
