Cool Optical Illusions

I see a fingerprint, obviously, and it also looks kind of like a horse to me (with it's eye in the middle).

But, now I just cheated by right-clicking on the picture to view the image, and in the URL, it says "finger-print-dog-illusion" ... so it's a dog!

I searched and didn't find a thread on this topic. So, I've made one.

If you look at the picture above, it seems as if the circles are moving, but actually, they're not moving. It's an optical illusion!

Well i admit, it's got me. I can stop one from moving, only to see the others start. Left-ankled gear-things. >_<

Not sure that this is a male optical illusion... I'm male for instance, and it took me about 10 seconds to find the second boat (which, to be fair, might not even be a boat), the first boat I found on my way down to the scantly clad individual.

I'm not terribly impressed with 'motion aftereffect' or whatever. The illusions I appreciate are typically spacial impossibilities.

My gender is indeed 'female'. I tend to dislike any blanket statements on what males and females do, especially when it is often applied nonsensically [i](Ie: all males will spend about 30 seconds or more trying to find the boat in the picture)/i]. Being sexually attracted to the body of an average naked/nearly-so adult human female is in no way the defining feature of manhood, maleness, men, or angry mosquito hawks. ^_^

Here's an explanation that I read:

This classic illusion is due to the way you interpret color (or shading): it’s not done independently; your brain is always comparing things. In one case, the square is surrounded by lighter squares which make it look darker, and in the other case it’s surrounded by darker squares, making it look lighter. The shadow going across the squares messes with your perception as well, amplifying the effect.
