Hello!

Hello!
Hello, I was looking for forums to join and this one seemed like a good idea. I used to be a member of The Thinking Atheist forums back in the day, and this looks like a similar sort of place. Mostly hoping to find challenging conversations, keep things in practice.

Oddly enough I ended up being brought to God in recent years. Wasn't anything I'd ever expected, being deep into Atheist thinking, and being fascinated by science and naturalism. I was hit in the face with it all at once, and it took a while to figure out exactly what was going on. Ended up happening in isolation, for the most part. Had a couple of 'Born Again Christians' try to convert me, but since they use emotional manipulation, cold reading and other trickery, it didn't work, because I spent over a decade studying cults as part of the Atheist community :L

I know I might be seen as a wolf entering the sheep pen here, but I'm not really particularly interested in trying to convince people of things or stir things up. I'm coming from the perspective of a lifelong atheist and rationalist who was forced to acknowledge God via what most people would call 'supernatural' events. Wouldn't even know how to convince my past self, let alone a randommer on the internet.

I do have Biblical arguments against Young Earth Creationism though, which could be pretty fun. Got a lot to say about the Bible actually, because it doesn't seem to contain the Biblical Narrative

The Christians and Muslims won't let me talk about these things, so I'll see what you lot are like instead. There was a saying back in the TTA days; "Atheists know the Bible better than the Christians"

Welcome Woof.

Can you describe your 'supernatural' events, in detail, in other threads?
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

No, but I can tell you simply that the finality of Atheist debunking of my experience is that humans have evolved to experience the presence of the spiritual, and that since this state can be induced by practices acknowledged in the western Sciences; meditation, consumption of psychedelics, the 'God Helmet' (supposedly) etc.
If that is satisfactory for you, if I reach to the end of the pointless discussion that would arise from those threads :L

It is as the observation of Atoms, or the models of molecular machinery. You are either one way or the other, and I am not a prophet.

You can't describe the events that you claim to base your position on god/religion?

Some humans experience things that are not 'natural'. The medical community consider them aberrant.

Your last sentence seems to validate my point.

I said I won't, and then explained why.

@arewethereyet

I honestly don't remember at this point. Only had around 500 posts. I left the forum around the time Seth Andrews said TJ Kirk was bad for Atheism's public image, and I was on TJ's side lol
