Still makes more sense than a god just "poofing stuff into existence"

right because the universe just poofed into existence it has definitely not been chilling for eternity in a static universe state, that is just to difficult for anyone to imagine, an infinite and eternal universe? God just thinking about it must hurt the poor wittle atheist brain.
Poofed into existence is your problem with your god claim.

Lay out how your god always existed from nothing

Hey no one is going to faith shame you here, come on bring that big beautiful big bang science fiction religion my way. Its okay its the most widely accepted scientific theory out there and its absolutely ridiculously garbage, also it was made by a Jesuit, so really you should be thinking 'is this Roman Catholic Propaganda?' in which case you'd be right the Roman Catholic Church has made a living fooling people for thousands of years, now is no different.

I used to be Catholic and even I never thought the Big Bang actually happened.

That’s because you’re stunningly pig-ignorant.

How’s it going Authori. Is the underlying vulnerability here faith? It’s fascinating to me how…in a world largely dominated by faith…faith came to be a dirty word. This began well before the rise of atheism. Even among the faithful there’s a general perception that an excess of faith strongly correlates with an excess of shiftiness and stupidity. Look at how other Christian’s view fundies, for example. If they could kick them out of the tribe or vote them off the island, they would. They accomplished as much socially, which is how it became safe for atheists to criticize fundies in the company of christians. Catholicism went through a similar beating to the same end.

Meanwhile we all have things that could be generously (and critically) described as articles of faith. I’m not sure if the Big Bang qualifies, I don’t have any feeling about it, so certainly no strong ones.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Perhaps you should tell us exactly what you imagine the BBT is, because I can't shake the feeling that you're heading for a strawman.

Boru

It's clear from the terminology, and the arrogance, "big bang science fiction religion" that autobot wants to set up a strawman and is a fucking idiot.

Big Bang theory is not faith or religion nor does it have to do anything with atheism.

The Big Bang is something that astrophysicists postulated by observing the universe in a way that the lyrics describe:

Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries
That all started with the big bang

You see, math, science and history are not religion.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Really not sure why atheists can't just be religious. Atheism means no belief in any kind of deity. It doesn't mean you can't be religious.

How words are defined matters. There are heavy connotations associated with particular words, and theistic related words are not known to be as morally good as believers always claim.
