Sarah Palin offers thanks to Bush, not Obama, for death of Bin Laden

RE: Sarah Palin offers thanks to Bush, not Obama, for death of Bin Laden
Go and read that article Rev, the one you posted, actually read it, unlike you did with the Palin article that you turned into a shitty cheap-shot, you'll see really really clearly where the CIA explain their decision and why it DOES NOT mean they have "given up" hunting Osama.

And now pointing out where you and DP made shit up, didn't bother to read the entire context of a decision and use completely fucking trivial points based around entirely benign language in the name of political point scoring means I'm "putting my vote in with the Republicans"? What a load of shit. This isn't a fucking political issue.

1. It doesn't matter either way who was president at the time, giving either one undue credit for political motives is BULLSHIT.
2. Using something as trivial as "She didn't use Obama's last name" to score political points is BULLSHIT.
3. Using the headline of an article to make a point while ignoring contrary points inside the same article is BULLSHIT.

If I can get my hands on both Palin and Limbaugh, I'll starve Palin for 5 days, then strap Limbaugh immovably to a chair, remove his scalp and cut away the crown of his skull to expose his brain in such a way that he doesn't bleed to death. Then I'll lock starving Palin in a room with Limbaugh, put a spoon next to limbaugh's exposed living brain, and see what Palin would do.

Really?
I hate Palin's political ideals as much as anyone who doesn't agree with anything she says and Limbaugh makes me want to vomit every time he opens his filthy whore mouth... but really?

I can think of a few people on the supreme court who deserve this fate more than Palin or Limbaugh if only because they actually did something destructive to American Democracy.
Things like Citizen's United and this stupid decision.
Though I would argue that they should be tried for treason rather than setting up the next Saw plot.

Palin and Limbaugh are both clowns and deserve to be dismissed as such but they both have the right to be as big of an ass-clown as they choose to be.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

All over Facebook I keep seeing reposts of something along the lines of "Let's get this straight, Obama DID NOT kill Osama Bin Ladin. It was members of the military whose pay he threatened to cut, Obama just happened to be in office when the military finally got him blah blah blah blah..."

Stupid neocons can't even give Obama credit for getting the current number 1 bad guy. Obama DID, as commander-in-chief, authorize the mission to go into that compound because he had good intelligence which said that Osama would be there. And it turned out to be correct. It's not like the military was busy the past 10 years going door-to-door looking for Osama and finally found him. And I believe it's Congress which decides the military's budget, not the president.

The thing that pisses me off was that if we'd gotten Osama when Bush was in power, Bush would get all the credit, none of this "Bush didn't get Osama" nonsense would be spreading around. And even now Sarah Failin' is giving Bush the credit. Hell he had 8 years and never found him, so why should he get any credit?

Wrong. It points out that Al Qaida and Bin Laden were never things Bush cared about. In fact, according to inside testimony from Gen. Clark, Bush was obsessed with Saddam leading to the very negligence that allowed 9/11 to happen on his watch.

Quote:Minimum effort? Declaring war on a sovereign nation because of it's associations with a terrorist group constitutes minimum effort? Well fuck me, I'd hate to think what you consider 'maximum effort'.

We declared war on a nation that was actively protecting Osama Bin Laden after giving them an ultimatum to turn him over. We had every right to do that. Unfortunately, Bush only sent in a small force, toppled the government and seemed to call that a day. Immediately afterwords, he was on record saying he "didn't know where Bin Laden was and didn't think about him." Maximum effort would have been something akin to our war in Iraq. Had Afghanistan been our sole focus, we could have crushed Al Qaida. Bush squandered that opportunity because he was obsessed with Saddam.

Quote:1. The did not know that bin laden was there, they believed it to be the case but this was never confirmed.

2. They did not just leave it to the anti-Taliban militia, it was orchestrated and backed by US and British special forces.

3. It was a meager 2 months after 9/11.

4. It was not Bush who called the ceasefire.
We had every reason to think so and Bush dropped the ball. Relying on the anti-Taliban at all was foolish. These warlords have a long history of shifting allegiances as it suits their needs. Obama was smart enough not to inform Pakistan, knowing that they've been playing both sides.

Quote:That's because he's not that important... Even Pelosi admitted as much, until there was political gain to be made from exaggerating the importance that is.
Actually he was and his killing is. Symbols are very important to his culture. Plus there's a treasure trove of information that we've doubtlessly also seized .

Quote:Red Herring. Osama was most likely already in Pakistan, renewed efforts in Afghanistan are not relevant.
The very reason that Al Qaida was able to regroup in Pakistan was because of our minimal efforts in Afghanistan. This was because Bush decided Saddam was more important as a priority.

Quote:Red Herring #2
See above.

Quote:Complete BS, they closed an office that had been dealing with it, he was not worth the resources.

But Bush's private little war in Iraq was?

Personally, I'd have gladly traded killing Saddam for killing OBL when Saddam was captured.

Quote:You think that if someone had told bush "Hey, Osama's in this bunker over here" he wouldn't have done anything?
