I am unsure exactly how hugging your significant other is a punishable offense. Gosh, I imagine they would have expelled her if she'd been gay.

Fight it. Contact your local papers, t.v stations, radio stations etc. Go down there and tell them how stupid you think their rules are and if they attempt to pursue it you will take legal action against them!

Yeah, I really think that most school administrators are complete and utter morons when it comes to punishment. Like for instance the incident where a kid in kindergarten got suspended for taking a toy squirt gun to school. Their rules stated "no guns" and they were trying to follow it to the letter of the law. Stupid idiots can't even make a distinction between a real gun and a toy.

But it's not just today's school administators who are stupid. I remember a few kids back in the 70's getting paddled for jumping off the stage in the gymnasium. And I myself received a swat merely for being pushed out of my chair by another kid because the rules were "no fighting." It didn't matter that I was on the receiving end and wasn't the aggressor.

But to say that children need to be suspended because of a hug is just plain idiodic. People in this country are so hyper-sensitive when it comes to sex that they think that a simple display of affection will lead to doing the nasty right there in the hallway.
