Those people might have called themselves Christians, or have followed direction from supposed Christian leadership. but both the direction and the act were clearly never Christ like... something you can't say about an unforgiving Allah.

The two religions have very different moral bases.

Oh come on frodo stop cherry picking. The god of the old testament was as barbaric as anything that 'allah' supposedly is. I'm sure many muslims might say that stoning is barbaric, meanwhile alot more might say it is the way of the qu'ran. Just like many christians welcome homsexuals but many others want to kill them.

And seen as islam carries on the 'teachings' of jebus then it doesn't seem to me that the two would have different moral bases, because as you know god never changes his mind, so why would he start now? Even if you don't believe what islam teaches the muslims know that the god they believe is the same one in the bible. So for them to start changing the moral bases as you call it wouldn't make much sense, nor is it true.

The two religions have very different moral bases.

Any religion that combines a belief in a devil with a salvation scheme contingent on belief WILL be barbaric regardless of how much peace and love the founder preaches.

A religion that believes in a devil to fight will see all other religions and non-believers as being at least duped by said devil. After all, if you're not with their god, well, that narrows it down as to who you're with, doesn't it? And if you believe that your neighbor is working with the devil, you are capable of doing anything to them.

A religion that professes that one must believe or face eternal torment will practice torture, murder and other violence regardless of how much peace and love its founder preached. If you believe Hell is real, saving people from it becomes the top priority. Killing a few unrepentant unbelievers to save thousands of souls, some of which might be your children, can be easily justified.

The belief in a devil + faith-based-salvation is a toxic mix. All it takes is the right religions leader who's amoral enough and charismatic enough to pass the kool aid around.
