Going back to sex slavery, the main thing is that if a female slave does not want to have intercourse, no one can force her. So she can't be forced into it at all. If the female slave converts to Islam, then the master can't screw around with her - he must be married to her (as mentioned in Surah 4:25 in the Quran) - and it can't be done against her will, whether she is a Muslim or not. She has every right to ask for freedom and she must be given that freedom whether her master likes it or not.

Now the question is: What lady in her right mind is going to acquiesce to being a slave to someone, who is having sex with her, and not marrying her, and where her status is not equivalent to his wife's? This will only happen at a time where its safer to stay with a man as his slave than it is to be free (i.e. a state of anarchy in the society). Therefore, it is not reasonable to think state that Islam encourages having sex with a slave - but rather that it was allowed - most likely because it was a better alternative to the state of conditions that existed at the time. I might be wrong, but that's what I personally believe to be the correct opinion regarding this topic.
