RE: Cross at world trade center memorial?

I didn't have the patience for the bullshit Faux intro.

It is absolutely wrong! Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!

There should not only be the wreckage that is in the shape of this cross, installed at the finished memorial site. As AA has suggested. Every religious symbol known should be included in a collection of such symbols in front of the memorial itself. Including the A atheists symbol, as some people imagine exists.
Now, if that were proposed one can only imagine other atheists and or groups, would file suits then too.

Radical atheists need to get a fucking clue. Imagine the reactionary moron who looks up at every building constructed when there are... dare I say it? CROSS BEAMS of steal visible to the naked eye! Oh hell no! Call the Mayor! Call the Governor! Call everyone in power and stop that symbol from offending me because I let it!

How about filing federal law suits against the presence of every church, every synagogue, every mosque, every religious building erected anywhere in America. Because those structures, while tax exempt in the donations they take in, still pay property taxes to the local government for those structures.
Let's just go and stop every religion from erecting a symbol that offends the non-believer. So we don't have to be reminded that mythology builds icons to fiction!

Treadmill, could you post an introduction here http://atheistforums.org/forum-11.html so we can get to know you a little better?

I don't disagree and I'm not sure I want to participate in your poll because I don't know your motivation for it, if it is yours, if you found it and just want to share, etc. Out of curiosity, why do you disagree with a memorial being placed on the site? A lot of people relate to that symbol. Therefore, it is just as viable as any other shape for a memorial, if not more. I have no problem with it. A cross is not a swastika. (Waits for Min to disagree with that last part. I know it might as well be, buddy. Smile )

I don't give a damn if it is in the shape of a swastika, or in the very painted visage of a giant penis.

I am 100% apathetic to what shape it is... and I have no desire to vote for it since you are essentially 'nobody' right now.

But what came first? The or Adolph?

Mein Kampf, vol. 2, ch. vii

"Actually, a dentist from Starnberg did deliver a design that was not bad at all, and, incidentally, was quite close to my own, having only the one fault that a swastika with curved legs was composed into a white disk.

. . . . . . . . .

"As National Socialists, we see our program in our flag. In red we see the social idea of the movement, in white the nationalistic idea, in the swastika the mission of the struggle for the victory of the Aryan man, and, by the same token, the victory of the idea of creative work, which as such always has been and always will be anti-Semitic." G'day treadmill

Are you seriously suggesting I click on a FOX news link and actually vote in one of their polls? Go away.Tongue

PS did you know that Rupert had his first paper,"The News" in my city, Adelaide, South Australia.? Yep, that was a yellow rag too and Rupert was the same ruthless areshole he is today, albeit a lot younger, and looking a lot less like emperor Palpatine.

The cross at ground zero: Could not care less what New Yorkers do. Would I complain if it was here? Probably not, still don't care. If a 2000 year old symbol of a dominant superstition makes a lot of people feel better, that's fine with me----as long as it isn't anywhere it can be seen from my house. (might lower property values)

BUT: In a 'free society' everyone has the right to be offended, to say so loudly, publicly, AND to seek redress at law , just as they did with the planned Mosque at ground Zero. No one has the right to gainsay such people. You don't like them complaining? What can I say?--El fucking stiffo.Tiger
@ Judas;

The swastika is a symbol thousands of years old, found in many cultures. The loopy little Austrian corporal did not invent it.

Quote:The swastika (Sanskrit: स्वस्तिक) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form. Earliest archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization of Ancient India as well as Classical Antiquity. It remains widely used in Indian Religions, specifically in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Quite honestly, I'd prefer that the cross be moved to St. Paul's Chapel that's right near the WTC site and is heavily connected to the aftermath of the attacks. It's close to the site and it's in a place where it would be fitting.

I'm aware of that. I think if you'd have read the link accompanying, "Which Way Am I Spinning?" --

, you'd have seen that.

Religion is like a Penis, you shouldn't whip it out in public and you shouldn't shove it down your child's throat.
