We probably don't seem like serious people Summer.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I have no idea how we'd give off that impression.

Well, I didn't think people were using the term "plant porn" literally. I thought only the Dendrophilia that Rhythm posted was the 'serious' one.

Figured I'd give you my current garden layout. Everything is in some sort of fruiting stage. I'll be making many gallons of marinara, wine, liquor and pie filling. I've got a small apiary off to the side. Potatoes and onions growing in piles of straw against the back of the garage. I stapled plastic sheeting up on the inside of my garage and I grow mushrooms in there pretty much year round (it's my germination room as well). Neighbor behind me lets me plant blocks of grains in his yard, and I've planted a hedgerow of G-R Peppers between us. Neighbor to my N. lets me use his water elements as small tilapia/crawdad pools (very generous of him). I have blueberries and raspberries inter-planted out front as a hedge along the sidewalk. Thorns keep bastard children out of my yard. Obviously potted herbs all over the yard, deck, inside the house. Mint and violet are my ground cover. Lettuce, radishes, carrots, and strawberries are my usually bed and path edging.

I'm about to plant that barren row full of asian greens like tatsuo and boc choi. We have a little progression of seasons in our dinner menu. In the spring we largely eat soups and rice. Summer is a buffet of grilled veggies and salads. The fall is tradition american fare. Winter is time to bring out the Irish (all potatoes all the time). The whole year round we eat fruit, and drink homemade wines, liquor and beer. Obviously we have our little seafood binges when the tilapia get big, and after the crawdads molt.

I supplement this little garden patch with a bit of modern day hunting and gathering. Obviously I fish, hunt, and trap (but don't tell fish and game about the traps). I also have a citrus basket from my days in florida that I use to do spring and fall cleanup for all of my neighbors with fruit trees. Nothing ruins a lawn like rotting fruit. They give me ten bucks....and I "take care of it". Smile

Even with all this, I have two neighbors that are putting me to shame. One has a garden similar to my own, but it covers the entire lot out to about 4inches from the fence line (I'll try to go get some pictures). The other has a grapevine that I shit you not has to be as old as the State of Kentucky. It's about 20 ft tall and 130 ft wide. Looks like it may be more than one vine but the stems are all wrapped around each other into a single trunk about 2 ft wide. Telephone poles and power lines are the trellis for this beast. I get most of my grapes from these guys. I actually took cuttings and root-toned them for my grapes.

After all of that, my entire neighborhood is in what I like to call "The War of the Lilly". Lillies will grow wild here so we bring in a ton of them that aren't native. Collectively we have millions (an extremely conservative estimate). Onions and garlic also grow wild. Rabbits play in the raceways and the streets (and they taste fantastic). What can I say, redneck city. Bunch of Cleti sittin on the porch with mint julips and jugs of shine. Fried green maters and punkin pie.

(The small block in the bottom right is filled with that which shall not be named)

Sorry rayaan...IF you are talking Horticulture you are talking sex and female parts and male parts and sex and all sorts of pornography...unfortunately what your religion does NOT understand is that your god made a world full of sex and music and porn and sex and light and billions of.... well sex .....to deny this is to be mentally ineffectual and deficient from this horticulturalist's point of view.
