Rise of the Planet of the Apes

RE: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
The Rise hasn't even premiered here yet.. Tongue But I intend to go see it once it once it does. I have no high expectations, but I assume that it'll be entertaining. Smile
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I will certainly watch the movie once it comes out on dvd, since I am not paying the $14 ($17 if you want to see a 3D movie) to see it at the local cinema.

I saw Rise on Friday, and was disappointed. A lot of gaps in the story, in my opinion. I didn't dislike the movie, but I was very underwhelmed with it.

Gaps in the story?

Not yet but looking forward to it.....especially because the apes revolt I believe?
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

Yes, this is basically about how the "Planet of the Apes" became what it was. However, the story has already been told in a completely different way. The reasons for the revolt, characters and everything are different from the way the revolt was described in the original films.

Yes, the apes are revolting.

It's sort of a Tea Party metaphor!

I'm tempted to ask well what's the point? But if it is a different take on how it all started then that's interesting and I look forward to it.

Because the original reasoning and story was a little lame. It wasn't terrible, but it wouldn't be interesting now.

Sure. I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it, but they don't really expound on the virus thing, nor do they say what, if anything, happens to the apes after they attack everyone. I can't believe that the humans would just let them live a happy existence in the Redwoods, do you?

I understand that they have to leave it open for the next one, but I feel like they could have covered a little bit more.
