Old Kingdom Brought Down By Drought

Old Kingdom Brought Down By Drought
http://news.scotsman.com/world/Ancient-E...6811426.jp

Quote:"There were great riots, and anarchy breaking out as a result of it."

Historical records have suggested the region was hit by a drought spanning several decades, forcing people to extreme measures with some writings even suggesting people were forced to eat their own children.

This drought has now been confirmed by information collected by the St Andrews team, along with colleagues from the University of Aberystwyth.

Dr Bates said: "It was coming to the end of a particularly long period in the pharaohs and there is quite a good record that law and order was breaking down.

And not a fucking "Hebrew" in sight!

RE: Old Kingdom Brought Down By Drought
I would love to have seen Egypt in it's prime long centuries ago. Supposedly the pyramids were covered in stone that made them appear white from a distance, while the surrounding area was lush green foliage, with lakes and swamps. At least that's what I read once.

Now, it's all about the money. Money to camel or Arabian horse ride out to the Giza plateau, money money money.
So basically, I don't care how it came to look like this now. It is what it is.
"In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with."

True enough about the casing stones of Tura limestone.

The second pyramid still retains it at the cap.

I don't know about the lush surroundings, though. Giza is a plateau and I don't think it gets much water.
