RE: A Reintroduction.
I agree with Cinjin, in that I like the honesty you put in your post. I only hope you're just as honest with yourself.

Welcome. I look forward to reading your posts.

What can I say? Bullshit. Your post indicates you retain the common theist ability to ignore facts. That's called 'cognitive dissonance'

Why am I being so mean? Well actually, this is me playing nice .I simply can't be bothered with anyone who makes the above claim, and follows it with

Quote: I still believe in an Intelligent Designer (and evolution).
That is a two way bet, faith plus science, and actually the official Catholic position, not one based on entirely on fact. It gives the lie to your claim of placing facts over feelings.

I usually agree with Pad, but I have to disagree on this one.

A person in the middle of a spiritual metamorphosis often has conflicting viewpoints. The internal struggle can be a difficult one for some and just because she doesn't have your structured belief system (or lack thereof) just yet doesn't make her post "bull shit".

Granted, if cox is lying than yes, I take it back and I agree with you, but I don't think she is.

I say, let a person be who they are. It's not written anywhere that someone can't have conflicting ideologies when they're still undecided in what they believe regarding one's spirituality. If her post is legitimate than she deserves a hand, not a slap across the face.

Cox, just from your description, I'm curious if you are (were?) a jehovahs witness. Welcome back.

RE: A Reintroduction.
Wow guys. Your welcomes have really touched me. Thank you. Big Grin

Padraic, it's good to see I brought your 'nice' side out. Tongue

Cdog, no I wasn't a JW when handing out the leaflets. I was part of a New Frontier's Church- pretty main stream 'orthodox' stuff. I have had 'dealings' with the JWs in my teen years though.

It's good to be back. I must thank Tiberius for having the automated emails. One popped into my inbox a few days ago and here I am.

RE: A Reintroduction.
Welcome back CoxRox. I thought it was bit strange that you suddenly up and left all those years ago, but now it makes sort of sense. I understand that you must have been feeling a bit down, but losing one's belief system doesn't have to be "bleak". In a lot of cases, it is a very enlightening experience for the person.

It really depends on what you care about most; feeling good, or knowing the truth. Sometimes you can have both, but the truth almost always hurts when you first come across it. A lot of people don't like being out of their comfort zone; they don't like to think that they've been wrong for so many years. I don't believe in God (still), but I don't feel that life has to be bleak because of it; taking God out of the picture means we don't have a supernatural crutch to lean on, so we have to create natural crutches for ourselves, and we do that through helping each other.

I'm looking forward to you putting forward the case for Intelligent Design; I think there are more examples of bad design in the world than good, but we'll see what you've got.

You want to see more IDiocy littered on the boards? Speaking of which, when you talk about bad design, betcha a believer only hears design. Just grant the whole damn argument and say ID ergo Morrigan. Case closed.

Only because in my experience, CoxRox is the kind of person to actually listen to the opposing view and take it into consideration.
