Outsmarted by a Christian, need help to contradict

RE: Outsmarted by a Christian, need help to contradict
I'm not claiming that the FSM or Zeus are absurd and you can't lose a debate to them so you can't to God really....

I'm not claiming - I'm asking...

I'm saying that if you can lose a debate to a Christian then you could just as easily lose to a pastafarian right?

Christianity has no special advantage over any other religion, or over a pastafarian or someone who believes in Zeus or whatever....

I am saying if you claimed negative proof of the FSM or Zeus...an atheist would also lose the debate then right?

So then Christianity can win against a debate of atheism..but so can pastafarianism! So does it really have much meaning?

To them maybe lol

Of course it has meaning. A creationist can win against an evolutionist if the creationist plays his cards right and the evolutionist doesn't. Just because in theory silly positions can win doesn't make the debate meaningless. The point of a debate, especially those in public forums is not to convince the person you're debating but the people listening/watching. If you're arguments are flawed they are going to be convince by the other person. Get this notion out of your head that just because what you deem silly and obviously not real makes the debate an automatic win for you. It doesn't. It's not about what's right/wrong true/not true. It's about presenting the facts/evidence in a way that promote your position.

This discussion seems to hinge upon a failure of some parties to appreciate that being right isn't the same as being persuasive.

Point taken...

So I am assuming its entirely what you DO present then and not also what you fail to present?

FAILING TO present from the start 'the facts/evidence in a way that promote your position' does not count because there is no burden of proof in a debate such as this?

I.E It's about what you say and not about what you fail to say...like I said - there must be no burden of proof then..

Point taken and well put I think.
