FFS: post material if you are trying to make a discussion. I have no will to play 'guess the chicken' with an avatarless 1st-time poster that hasn't said anything more than "Oh... ummmm... yeaaaahhhh.... this is..... ummmm.... wrong."

Edit: oh good... you have avatar now Smile

Hello extreme multi poster, I did state I was going to be vague to begin with.

...... and yes I do have an avatar now, do you find faceless posters unsettling?

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever read an atheist's preferred model for the creation of the universe on this forum.

Now I kinda do wanna watch this show. Be careful Diamond, my atheists friends are very very good, with well sharpened tongues.

Well actually I believe they do not exist at all it would be the equivalent of me saying I believe in fairy dust and then going to search for it.

This is my issue when you try to prove something you do so on evidence, what you do not do is have an idea then seek to find evidence which is not there to back your wrong idea ..... myself and a number of scientists believe this is exactly what is happening with the BB theory.

What do you believe Rythm, are you a believer in the BB?

Thanks lol I'm hoping they are.

I'm not a believer in any theory. Everything has to wash out with observation. You wont let scientists search for their fairy dust? Everybody else got the chance..lol. Your suggestion for a better theory?

@Cinjin I'm not surprised that you don't hear much from atheists about the big bang. Atheism as a position is fairly limited as has been well hashed out already. Most people would likely be content with the repsonse "We don't know", or in the more interested atheist "There comes a point where we do not know".

Unless you want a wrong bottled answer i.e BB theory then I cannot give you a definitive answer but I can point you to a short video on you tube which I found that is a great summary of what has been going on with this alternative view.

The video is in 9 parts but part 8 and 9 which are 7 mins each practically summarize what I believe although I need to do more research into the plasma theory even so it still highlights the problems I've cited.

There are numerous problems with the BB model, is there anyone here who is convinced of the BB.

I know I have not gone into detail about why I doubt it as I hope to go through what I have uncovered during a discussion but I'd like to get your opinions first.

Convinced as in; Given the evidence there is a high probability that the universe started off in a small, highly condensed state and expanded?

That's about as convinced as I am.

The Halton Arp Gambit (also known as the galileo gambit). This thread belongs in psuedo-science and conspiracy theories.

This is not what occurred with the Big Bang theory. Observations were made, and a model was made to fit the observations. As more observations were made, refinements were made to the model.

The model isn't perfect. Yes, we don't know what dark matter and dark energy are, but their presence is implied by observations that can't be explained otherwise, unless our models of gravitation are completely wrong (which they may very well be).

There's a ton of other observational evidence, as well as predictions that panned out to support the theory.

It's not a closed book by any means - there are a lot of unknowns.
