Quote:Facts on Post-Conviction DNA Exonerations
• There have been 192 post-conviction DNA exonerations in the United States to date.
• The first DNA exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 31 states since then; in 2006, there were 17 exonerations.
14 DNA exonerees were at one time sentenced to death or served time on death row.
• The average length of time served by those exonerated by DNA testing is 12 years.
• Of the 192 exonerees there are:
o 110 African Americans
o 50 Caucasians
o 19 Latinos
o 1 Asian American
o 12 exonerees whose race is unknown
• The true suspects and/or perpetrators have been identified in more than a third of the DNA exoneration cases.
• Since 1989, there have been tens of thousands of cases where prime suspects were arrested or indicted – until DNA testing (prior to trial) proved that they were wrongly accused.

So, you'd be okay with 14 innocent people being put to death or am I misreading your stance?

RE: Death Penalty
Seems like it Minimalist. I think the death penalty shouldn't be allowed, by the fact that innocent people get executed. I don't care if it's just 1, that's one too many. Also death penalty, this is what I've heared someone might have statistical number, is quite expencive. More expencive then someone might think. Also I think it's ridiciolous that they sometime get a convict to a hospitle to save his life, if his having a heart attack or have tried to commit suicide, just to ecutre him the next minute.

I think counries who have death penalty are medieval and somewhat barbaric. Also i don't see it as a penalty or punishment for those who are guilty. I mean what's worse, dying or having to spend the rest of your life in a cell? I would definitly go with the later one. I mean death penalty is a way to avoid to really getting punished.

So if I kill like 100 people, then me who is 1 person will be punished for that by getting executed. So one person who gets executed makes up for 100 deaths? Sounds a fair bargain for me who commited the murders. So instead of a life time of suffering do I just get killed in a instance and don't have to deal with I have done?

As I said I don't see the punishment in being executed when you have commited horrible crimes. I see it as a way to escape the real punishment.
