Probably the effects of how I was raised. It's always about kids, all the time. Healthy, happy children = win. For example, the minute you have children in my family is the minute you cease to be an actual human being or subject of concern for anyone else in my family. All of that goodwill is transferred over to your children. You stfu and take care of the kids. Not in any way dissimilar to anyone else's family I'm sure. It's the singlemindedness of it that's always amused me (trying to place myself outside looking in).
