Police become violent to OW in Melbourne, Aust.

Quote:the world would be better off without capitalism.

Actually, I'm reminded of a comment by H. L. Mencken:

Quote:The only good bureaucrat is one with a pistol at his head. Put it in his hand and it's good-by to the Bill of Rights.

Of course, Mencken was living at a time when the trusts had been cracked and things did not look so dire. I suspect now he would see things differently and want these banker fucks to have a .45 permanently stuck up their assholes just in case they decided to do anything illegal. And if the gun went off "accidentally" once in a while that wouldn't be the worst thing either.

I used to go to LA regularly when I was hunting deserters for the Navy. I had dinner with many a cop and his family. Out of the hundreds I met over the years I found a few that weren't particularly angelic. But most of them were plain folks doing a job they felt was important. Like me in the Navy, they sure weren't doing it for the money.

You can blame the crackdown on the Melbourne protestors on the Lord Mayor. In other cities in Australia such as Brisbane and Sydney the protestors have been unmolested.

My mistake then, this has convinced me that many people's beliefs of the police in Australia as "pigs" is not totally unfounded.

The "pigs" belief comes from anyone who has considered, witnessed or otherwise understood the feeling of powerlessness when someone in authority exceeds their authority and commits abuses.

The fact that "cops are pigs" easily comes from cultural creations like the Blue Code of Silence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Code_of_Silence) , police brutality (Rodney King comes to mind) and the use of the police by the powerful (Hell, Steve Jobs could get the SFPD to raid on command!).

You don't have the third option of 'Burn their fucking hippie tents with fire, then go obliterate the government ruthlessly'... that's my opinion Smile

I say 'fuck this tent shit', and really I don't give a damn about their movement. If they want to set up a proper syndicate: go and fucking do it already. I never did like protestors, and I never will: they don't often suggest a better way, and they usually botch their 'better way' up if they do.

It's coming, folks.... People can only take so much shitty treatment....

And on that day I'll show my capabilities. No sooner.

Justice in America? Isn't that an oxymoron? Wink

I say 'full steam ahead' for a revolution, and also the bazillions of injustices that would follow. I have pink hair, so my opinion matters Wink

These people have a right to be angry, though I think they are pushing their anger in the wrong direction. Who is responsible for the biggest bankers in America to still exist? The government.

It is funny when people bitch about capitalism in America, because we haven't had capitalism in a very fucking long time. IF we were a capitalist country we would not have nearly as much government intervention. Especially when the government holds up giant corporations.

The only possible way you can make a change is by voting third party, whether you are a liberal or conservative. Otherwise, the Republican establishment and the Democrat establishment is going to continue creating regulations against small businesses while making loopholes for their lobbyist friends
