Funny Television Moments
I watch very little television, but, when I do, it is nearly always science fiction or comedy. One of my favorite comedies is "The Big Bang Theory." For some reason, I love this scene.

Please post your favorite comedy television moments. Because I deprive myself of television, I am sure they will all be new and funny to me, unless it is Monty Python and the Flying Circus, which you should post anyway.

One of my favourite moments in television comes from The Bob Newhart Show. Bob has been seeing a salesman named Mr. Billings. He's played by the same guy who played Tee Hee in Live and Let Die the same year. As you might have guessed, he's this huge, intimidating black guy in a dashiki with a huge, black, unruly Great Dane named Whitey. He's been asking Bob for tips about how to seem less scary, and he suggest that maybe he remove his sunglasses. After this, he decides to leave. After this, he has a close encounter with one of Bob's coworkers, a dentist named Jerry. The dog's getting particularly unruly, and so, he tells the dog, "Sit, Whitey." Jerry promptly sits down on the desk, and we get the biggest laugh I've ever seen in a sitcom audience.

I couldn't find a clip on Youtube. But the episode it's in (Blues for Mr. Borden) is on Hulu. If you're not American, you'll probably not be able to see it.

TBBT is one of my favorite shows ever!

My fave of all time is Trailer Park Boys. It was a fantastic Canadian Mockumentary type show.

These tv types forgot the old advice about not working with kids or animals!
Keep your eye on the elephant handler....what a straight man for comedy!

HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

I thought this was a funny fuckin episode. They did a great version of mocking a fundy mom. Just great!

Sheldon's mom is hilarious. I did see that episode. I love the part where he says something like "evidence that your god can work miracles" about him going to a fundy theme park.

So many I could choose from! I think one of the best for me was Steptoe and Son, exported to the US as Sanford and Son. The whole series was a goldmine of comedy, a showcase of Galton and Simpson's genius. The basic scenario is the story of two rag and bone men, who can barely stand each other's company but can't do much about it as they are father and son. Harold, the son, sees himself as an intellectual man of the world type, constantly trying to better himself but forever failing due to his duties to his father Albert, who is just a "dirty old man" and proud of it.

In this clip from the episode "Divided We Stand", Harold has finally had enough of having no privacy and spends all his savings to build a "Berlin Wall" right through the middle of the house. He quickly finds out his plan is not without its problems:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
