Username/Avatar ... why oh why?

RE: Username/Avatar ... why oh why?
"Tiberius" is the combination of two initialisms and one acronym that represent 3 examples of different types of cryptographic algorithm.

My avatar was designed by Cinjin along with one for each member of staff. Mine has the symbol of the Cohiba cigar on it, because I loves me some cigars.

I picked this name over 10 years ago. Around 2001, I used to roam around an old gaming site. Back then, the internet was still quite a new thing. The majority of people did not have home internet back then. I had dial up connection back then, and it took over a minute to load a page. I got so bored of waiting and waiting. Well when I started going to the forums, I needed a name, and well, it the name just popped in my head...

Loading... Please Wait.. ARGHHH!!

Well as you can see my avatar is pretty much a Loading Please Wait sign. It really doesn't symbolize much about me after all, I am quite a patient person ha. I think everyone can agree waiting for internet pages to load is quite annoying

Anyway and my sig is a Celebrate the Season with Reason and a loading bar. I was thinking about changing my avatar and sig to be more personal. Maybe a picture of myself. I've only been here a little over a few months now, but I feel very welcomed here, and I love the sense of humor you guys have here.

It's going pretty good. I quite entirely during the work week and have only cheated a couple of times on the weekend.

It's coming along nicely. With any luck I'll stop craving them entirely.

Ah you are doing awesome as I know the work week is hard as the smoke break is a nice time away!!! The weekends probably are the hardest especially if you drink. My husband quit like 3 years ago and he still he STILL craves them especially when his wife stresses him out!!

Anyhow, I hope it continues to go well!!! I bet it just continues to get easier and easier! Smile

nicotine cravings hit at the strangest of times.

Got through lunch and a beer with little effort (when usually I would immediately want one hard core), but then while watching a movie I suddenly wanted one like a mofo.

Strange.

You are alright, Mayor. Sound like an old hand at this manner of communication. Wink

My Avvy is Georg Cantor. Instructed by God to pierce the Infinite, ridiculed by religion ever since.

I am John Cantor of the prophetic House of Cantor spoken of in Paul's epistle to the Romans, and vengeance shall be mine.

(don't sweat the religious drama - I'm past that shit, working on the science right now. Wink )

My Avatar
One day I was surfing youtube, for something interesting to watch, and found a video of a very angry atheist!
From here I surf to a other and a other video, very quickly, I realized that these individuals live under the impression of an eternal conflict between science and the church
I discovered a fool called Thunderf00t that in his videos enumerate or suggest 4-5 wrong premises that would have result in a conclusion desired, by the atheist community.

1.The Roman empire was a bastion of science and philosophy
2. The Roman Empire fell because of Christianity
3. A period of 1,000 years of darkness followed ( period brought by Christianity)
4. Knowledge in medicine, philosophy, art were brought to Europe from "Islam" ( so that would have started the renaissance )
----------------------------
The conclusion reached by Thunderf00t and mentioned in numerous videos and blogTV conference
is that without Christianity humanity would have "colonized the universe"

Here we talk about a a priori conclusion that Carl sagan, richard dawkins, christopher hitchens, tried desperately to proved it.
And as historian, I thought at one fact that would deny this argument, whit all his premises & his conclusion

And instantly I concluded that the Byzantine Empire would deny all T.Fool premises (taken together or separately).
Therefore I adopted the Byzantine double-headed eagle as avatar

Interestingly, that eagle is also the emblem for West Mercia here in the heart of England, best exemplified by the Mercian Volunteers Regimental Association (of which my Dad is branch secretary).
Hey, another milestone! "And the number of the posts shall be three hundred, threescore and six." The prophecy is fulfilled.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
