A poll that I thought several of you would like putting your two cents in...

RE: Newt
Add him to the list that makes me say "I'm taking suggestions for an Englishman to marry so I get the fuck out of here if he/she's elected."

Your candidate choice for the republicans is at best comical at worst a nightmare. If I was a republican I'd only vote republican if John Huntsman was nominated, someone who wants to get on.

I like Huntsman, too bad the Republicans don't.

Although we have a fucked up system where Oxford boys who study PPE(Politics,Philosophy&eEconomics) always get to the top, those people are the cream of the crop and despite obviously being handed easy parliamentary seats to guarentee them victory at every election, these people also have done fantastically well at college/university and could say that they got where they are meritocratically. No one in the UK would vote for a crook like Gingrich.

FWIW, Cambridge graduates do more important work like scientific work, Oxford is more of a fairy bunch of pricks.

Can you tell i'm from Cambridge Big Grin

I picked this off the site of a Ron Paul supporter.....something humorous in and of itself....

Not great poetry but it makes the point.

Quote:Resigned In Disgrace

Gather round all you children, gather round, hear this story
About the fall of a politician at the height of his glory
He resigned in disgrace
Now he’s back in the race
And if we fall for his lies, it’s America’s Momento Mori!

Let’s harken back to the year 1994
When Republicans won like they hadn’t before
He was Speaker of the House
(and a horrible spouse!)
But his ethics were something no one could ignore.

In those days the Congress just did as they please
Graft and check kiting were a rampant disease
They all wrote bad checks
And had scurrilous sex
Without any fear of the authorities

Now our subject, the Speaker, was quite the hypocrite
He campaigned against corruption, while reveling in it
He took the bold stance
To audit Congress’s finance
And that’s where Newt Gingrich, stepped in his own $#!+.

The Ethics Committee looked into Speaker Newt
To try to find out just how he fenced all his loot.
They saw thousands of pages
Of Gingrich outrages
And when they asked why, the Speaker lied, or went mute.

There were epic proportions of Newt’s tax evading junk
The more they dug into it, the more that it stunk!
But Congress sanctions their own
When they’re bad to the bone
‘Cause if they didn’t, Newt would be a cellblock punk!

Newt got slapped on the wrist with a $300,000 fine
For his multiple scams that were over the line.
It was “intentional and reckless”,
Newt had proven himself feckless,
And after the next election, he was forced to resign.

It’s hard to imagine the size of the balls it would take
To run for the Presidency as sanctioned ethical snake.
He needs to be scorned,
And now you’re forewarned
That nominating Newt would be a disastrous mistake!

I do a good imitation English accent, and I can get transfered to the UK office if I want, does that count?
I think Newt is nuts, not just in the usual republican way, but actually clinically. And I don't say this as a joke.

I just cannot believe Newt has a fighting chance of winning the Republican nomination. I am predicting Mitt Romney might win it, with an Ron Paul as a possible dark horse.

Newt's fucking scary, is what it is. That pizza fuck Cain... makes me think there's machination going on. Newt's the only one got a chance against the big O; but he shoulda been dead and buried. I don't like it, this specter's back on the scene. Then with Perry torpedoing his own boat? You know these fucks are all daisy-chained... oops. Prolly shoulda asked if there's any republicans around.

I'm a frickin' anarchist. Wink
