Humans used to have a Jacobson's organ, or a vomeronasal organ, which is found in snakes. In snakes, it's used to tell the snake about its environment since they can't hear and they don't see very well. Other senses in humans were developed, thus the vomeronasal organ was no longer needed.

What snakes do is flick their tongues out in the air and grab particles from it.
Cats also have it, as do many other animals. It is part of the olfactory system as it relates to smells.

I read in "My Inner Fish" that 3% of our entire genome is dedicated to olfactory receptors. That's insane.

I can think of a much simpler test. Look at a picture of a chimp. Now look at a picture of a person (any person, doesn't matter who). If even a casual comparison of the two pictures doesn't scream 'common ancestry', go to the nearest clinic and demand electric shock treatments.

I used to own three snakes and would take them into the kids' school when they were younger. I taught the class all about the Jacobson organ, which surprised even the teachers.

The fact that we, as humans don't really need that particular organ anymore is yet another sign that the whole creation myth is just that. A myth.
