RE: Well, who watched the Royal wedding?
I dont resent the royals just the fact that I pay for their upkeep, food and lodgings when they are some of he richest people on the planet.

As it was on almost every channel,I turned off the TV and listened to a couple hours of a new audio book "The Pillars Of The Earth"

This morning their happy visages are on the cover of EVERY paper. Fair dinkum,it's enough to put a bloke off his porridge.

I really don't care how much the Brits spent. The profits must be huge, just from tourists. Then there are the TV rights. BUT did Australia REALLY need to send a ceremonial guard, paid for by Aussie taxpayers? I think not.Fucking sychophants.Cranky

I am hoping the royal wedding will restart debate about Australia becoming a Republic.

I don't resent or even care about the Brits having a Royal family. I think it's quaint.

BUT, I resent the FUCK out of QE2 being Queen of Australia and have since 1975.

For those of you not familiar; that was the year the Queen's APPOINTED representative, dismissed parliament, and with it,the elected government.I was livid at the time, and have never forgotten.

Quote:The 1975 Australian constitutional crisis (sometimes called "the Dismissal") has been described as the greatest political crisis and constitutional crisis in Australia's history. It culminated on 11 November 1975 with the removal of the Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam of the Australian Labor Party (ALP), by Governor-General Sir John Kerr. Kerr then appointed the Leader of the Opposition Malcolm Fraser as caretaker Prime Minister.

Aye, that's something I disagree with. I don't think the tax payers should have to fork their bill. [Image: nonono.gif]
Not enough to make me an anti-royal though. They do some good now and again. Like yesterday, businesses had a huge rise in customers, really helped the economy. There's good and bad.
Depends how you look at it. I would never support the royals.Big Grin
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Why would I want to watch people I don't like? my family watched it, but I didn't. Can't stand rich people at all, just like they can't stand us.

Not me. If I'm going to wake up at 3 in the freaking morning to watch TV, that had better be a damned good film on TCM. I'm not going to watch any weddings, because I find them too boring, and the institution they represent to be pointless.

Not I!
A fine advertisement for revolution or politely asking the royals to just go.
