Play nice. Remember where you are.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I have had many experiences with God, but one thing that motivated me this week was: I attempted to lead people to Jesus, I tried to do a thing called prophecy, which (some people can do) seemed to go haywire, I attempted it on some poor atheist, and no matter what I tried nothing seemed to work. However after that God started to drop things in my mind which were true.

A man approached me coming down the path, a voice told me he was a Muslim, and a Sunni Muslim. He began to walk past me and me not sure whether what I heard was true, asked him are you a Muslim, he said "yes", I said a "Sunni", he said yes. So I spoke to him about the errors in the Quran, and how it is deplorable that anyone would preach wife beating, and terror in the name of the living one. And no the guy did not have a beard, and wear a dress, he was just a normal man.

One thing I have noticed is that God does not work by my will but his. He some times gives me this insight other times, he hides from me what is going on in a persons life.

My name is hope-y because I hope in God, and want to bring you that hope, and hope that God shows up.

So greetings all.

First of all congrats on your self descriptor.  I wish all xtians would call themselves hopers instead of believers.  You know, truth in packaging.  Believe what you have reason to think true.  Hope for what you hope to be true.  Know the difference.  So congrats and welcome (again).

But, really?  You thought some atheists might just join you in hoping god is real - why?  Because you say god sometimes tells you secrets?  Um .. no.  That won't fly.

I am sure it would not fly ... I am hoping for more that just words ... I am hoping for the "LORD of the flies" to turn up. ... very poor joke /book reference (but I guess he is God of flies and not just people.).

Welcome aboard, hopey!
I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor, but caution you to expect a very difficult journey.

Being half way across the world can't help!
You should come visit Portugal someday. Best food, best people, best weather... Best country ever!
I hope to make you a Portuguese... A bit like you hope for us to turn Christian... but I have something you don't: Portugal exists! Tongue

From what I gather, "Lord of the Flies" refers to Beelzebub, who was called Lord of the Flies. I would rather he showed up than the Christian god.
I do not ask that you respect religion, but we need to respect the religious, because they are rational humans just like us atheists. I was rational when I was a Christian. I believed because of indoctrination, not lack of intelligence.
