Happy Treason Day

RE: Happy Treason Day
For the record, here's the definition of nobility from a source regularly cited by the Supreme Court, Black's Law Dictionary (6th Edition):

Quote:In English law, a division of the people, comprehending dukes, marquises, earls, viscounts, and barons. These had anciently duties annexed to their respective honors. They are created either by writ, i.e., by royal summons to attend the house of peers, or by letters patent, i.e., by royal grant of any dignity and degree of peerage; and they enjoy many privileges, exclusive of their senatorial capacity. Since 1963 no new hereditary ennoblements have been created

In legal terms, nobility is related to aristocracy. The US Government allowing the Sioux to live on certain lands is not that.

When you link rights and priviledge to heredity - you have established a nobility - a priviledged class...

I am surprised that more people aren't offended by that.

So Donald trump should be Stripped of privilege of inheriting money from Fred trump, without which he would be zero and not sitting in the White House.

Agreed?

I fail to see how the reservation system counts as “privilege,” especially with the extreme poverty there. And that the American Indians who actually still remain on the reservations are poorer than their counterparts off it. Or is your idea of privilege “we don’t totally wipe your people out of existence”?

C'mon Rev, the Indians are living the American dream on their home soil! What's not to love! *

*the American dream as specified by the foreign invaders - take it or leave it, no further correspondence shall be entered into. Subject to change without notice.
Basically tough titties. Might apparently is right Dunno

(On a serious note: as an outsider, how do the indigenous folk feel about the BLM movement Dunno)

Then the US Constitution is invalid on the face of it, as those ‘rights and privilege [sic]’ you mention were originally intended only for free white males (a consequence of heredity if ever there was one).

But how is a guarantee that your property can’t be taken from you without due process a privilege of nobility? What the US did with the treaty under discussion was exactly that - they were recognizing that the Sioux had a legitimate claim to ownership of the Black Hills. It’s really no different that the US recognizing the sovereignty of Israel or South Sudan.

I don’t think your serious with this ‘nobility’ stuff.

Yeah... I am totally fucked up ...

See - I have this perverse notion that all people should be treated the same - and I really don't see how you fucking do that by drawing lines in the sand and tell everyone "you get this because you're a distant relative of some guy who used to live here a couple centuries ago" - and you other motherfuckers get nothing."

Again, it isn’t a matter between individuals. It is a case if one sovereign state recognizing the claims of another. Is it a grant of nobility to tell Jews that they can live in Israel?

Whole different deal.. Israel was a really bad idea based on religious twaddle.

A far more equitable solution would have been making the state of Israel with Berlin as it's capital.

Sticking in the middle east just ensured unending unrest.

Again with the deflection.  I'll try again.

Does the US being signatory to a treaty that allows members of a sovereign nation to live on land occupied by their ancestors equate to granting a title of nobility?

And FYI, a large part of the Sioux claim to the Black Hills is based on 'religious twaddle'.
