Now how bout dem bears? (January 17, 2013 at 2:09 pm)Drich Wrote: You do know Revelations was Physically written by John on Patmos (An Island prision.) Revelations is a 1st century man's attempt to describe what he saw. God showed the man what the end of the world would look like. However It was John's words and his limited experienced that capture these events. In other words, it's an inaccurate transcription of a lunatic episode. No wonder it stuck when it came time to determine biblical canon. It wouldn't matter if John of Patmos was Billy Shakespeare. The fact that he is completely full of shit is somewhat more problematic.

So god showed the man a vision knowing he would write about it. The holy spirit "guided/inspired" his writings, but neither god nor the holy spirit could be bothered to give him words for a more accurate description. Do you see the problem with that?

My favourite part was the bit about 666/616 translating to Nero and Caligula respectively. It's a bit harsh to call them Beasts though *tut tut*. Nope, I'm not joking and I don't see the problem. Will you answer the sincere question?

I mean seriously, what a complete load of goobledegook. For instance...... Quote: 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. What the fuck is this supposed to mean? If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. |
